A Series of Unfortunate Events Gets Season 3 Renewal

This is certainly unfortunate news as far as Lemony Snicket is concerned.
After Netflix renewed A Series of Unfortunate Events for season 2 (which begins filming this month), it appears as if the series has already been renewed for a third season, according to TVLine.
That should come as no surprise given the success of the first season.
Earlier this month, Lemony Snicket revealed the news of a second season via a discouraging letter:

“It has come to my attention that, despite my repeated warnings, you have viewed the Netflix adaptation of my distressing work, collectively known as A Series of Unfortunate Events,” the note read. “To my horror, Netflix has been encouraged by this, and funneled their ill-gotten gains toward a second season of this unhappy and unnerving series… I hope you’re happy. Because you won’t be, ever again.”

The first season of Unfortunate Events covered the first four books in Lemony Snicket’s wildly popular (and dreadful) middle grade series: The Bad Beginning, The Reptile Room, The Wide Window, and The Miserable Mill.

In an interview with EW.com, Daniel Handler (aka Snicket) revealed that the second season would cover books 5-9 (The Austere Academy, The Ersatz Elevator, The Vile VillageThe Hostile Hospital, and The Carnivorous Carnival.). He also noted that the final season would cover the final four books (The Slippery Slope, The Grim Grotto, The Penultimate Peril, and The End).
