'Arrow’ SDCC 2017 Interview: Marc Guggenheim Previews Season 6

Last season, Arrow literally ended the season with a bang as it blew up the prominent island of Lian Yu while also leaving the fates of every character not named Oliver Queen or William up in the air. But we’re not falling for this whole “everyone’s dead” tease. So we’re sure things will go back to normal. Well, normal in a sense.
We spoke with Arrow executive producer Marc Guggenheim at San Diego Comic-Con last month, where he teased the epic crossover event, as well as Arrow’s upcoming sixth season.

One of the concerns as Arrow heads into a season where a child will be prominent in the story, the concern was how do they avoid the pitfalls of bringing a kid into the story. But Guggenheim was quick to give all the credit to Stephen Amell and Jack Moore for really bringing a realistic emotional element to the storyline.
“I’ve got to give a lot of credit to Stephen,” Guggenheim said. “Watching dailies between him and Jack, who plays William, it’s great. It’s like, ‘This could’ve been a disaster.’ But the performances really ground it. We can write whatever, but if we don’t have great actors that sell the reality – the emotional reality – of that relationship, it falls flat.”
