The train to The Four Lands seems to have stopped here people. Spike, who had a major freakout on Twitter after finding out it would be no more, is transforming into Paramount Network and letting The Shannara Chronicles go.
But that doesn’t mean it’s the end of it!
According to EW, Sonar Entertainment, the studio behind The Shannara Chronicles, has started the hunt for a new home to the epic series. They’re looking into streaming outlets and more that are willing to carry the weight of how much this show costs and benefit from viewers need for epic fantasy series.
With shows like Game of Thrones on the brink of ending their run soon, The Shannara Chronicles is a perfect stepping stone for a network that wants to get into the fantasy game. It’s got two seasons under it’s belt, diverse stories/characters, POC/LGBT representation, and a fanbase that will follow the adventures of Wil, Eretria, Allanon, Mareth, Lyria, Garet Jax, and more.
We’re not ready to say goodbye to The Shannara Chronicles and we’re hoping that someone sees the potential in a story that features strong women, healthy relationships, growth of it’s characters, and a willingness to break out of the mold when it comes to the same stereotypical male lead. It’s different and exactly what we need to see more of on our screens.
The Shannara Chronicles is based on Terry Brooks epic series. It was created by Al Gough and Miles Millar. It starred Austin Butler, Ivana Baquero, Manu Bennett, and added Vanessa Morgan, Malese Jow, and Gentry White as regulars in it’s second season.
