We are one day away from Halloween and if you’re not really sure what to watch we’ve got you covered. We know that some of you may not be into slasher films or Halloween specials and we totally get that. We also know that some of you prefer things that are a bit on the darker side, while some of you prefer something on the lighter side. There are plenty of things you can watch on Halloween which is why we put together a list of some of the best TV shows to watch on Halloween day.
American Horror Story

This nine season anthology, centers on different characters and locations and each is more twisted than the last. The cast in each one is outstanding and immensely talented. My personal favorite although it is fairly dark, was American Horror Story: Hotel. Lady Gaga and Matt Bomer may have had something to do with that. If you’re into witches, check out American Horror Story: Coven, and if you like haunted house stories, check out season one which is American Horror Story: Murder House. From creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, this series has no shortage of episodes that will suit your Halloween needs.
American Horror Story is available to stream on Netflix.
Black Mirror

Black Mirror is another anthology that I’m a fan of. This series focuses on technology and just twists it in some wild ways. This is the type of show that will make you think about every single piece of technology you own. It goes deep with the storylines and deals with how we utilize technology for good but also how we use it for darkness. Every episode isn’t dark though. Take the classic San Junipero for example, that one is all sweetness and I highly recommend it. Believe me when I say, whether you want something to creep you out, or just really make you think, Black Mirror has something for everyone.
Black Mirror is available to stream on Netflix.
Blood Ties

One of my favorite Vampire series that was unfortunately cancelled. Based on The Blood Books by Tanya Huff, this series is about Vicki Nelson a former homicide detective turned private investigator who teams up with 470-year old vampire Henry Fitzroy. Together they solve crimes that involve the supernatural. The series was released in 2007 and I remember being so excited about it because it was the first vampire series I was seeing on TV since Buffy The Vampire Slayer. Blood Ties was so underrated and each story had some interesting plus I loved Kyle Schmid as Henry. He was handsome, sexy, and super vampy.
Blood Ties is available to stream on Tubi.
2 Sentence Horror Stories

And yes, we have another anthology on this list. This one from The CW, is super twisted. It’s a show that explores primal and social fears. Each episode starts with a sentence and at the end of the episode, the last sentence pops up, hence the name 2 Sentence Horror Stories. What’s also unique about this anthology is that it takes everyday situations and turns the into something really scary. Like Black Mirror, there are some episodes that make you think as well.
2 Sentence Horror Stories is available to stream on The CW and Netflix.
Orphan Black

This series is about a streetwise hustler named Sarah Manning who gets pulled into a major conspiracy after witnessing a woman commit suicide. That’s not the crazy part though. The woman looks exactly like Sarah which is pretty creepy. Sarah assumes the woman’s identity which if you ask me, was a big mistake because it lead to a whole lotta drama which I won’t get into here because trust me, it’s a lot. Just watch the show.
Orphan Black is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video.
Sacred Lies

Based on the book The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly by Stephanie Oakes, this Facebook Watch show is about a handless (yes you heard that right) teenage girl who after escaping a cult, ends up in juvenile detention after a violent encounter. She continues to be held there because it is believed that she may know something about who killed the cult leader. I know it doesn’t sound that scary but I think being in a cult is pretty scary especially when the followers are willing to do anything for them. I really enjoyed this series and was thoroughly freaked out at times. I highly recommend it.
Sacred Lies is available to stream on Facebook Watch.
Stranger Things

I think most people already know that Stranger Things is a pretty perfect show to watch on Halloween day. Netflix’s show about a group of kids living in a small town dealing with some major supernatural forces, has become a classic. It’s so addictive and the monsters are only getting scarier each season. If you’re looking for a show filled with 80s nostalgia and creepy gorgons, this is your jam.
Stranger Things is available to stream on Netflix.
The Fall

I briefly mentioned this show in my previous list of the Scariest Characters Ever On TV, but it deserves to be on another one. The Fall is about Paul Spector, a man with a dark secret. By day, he is a family man and grief counselor but, by night he is a stalker and killer of women. This show takes place in Belfast and if you’re into Irish-British crime dramas, this is definitely one to check out. There are three seasons and believe me when I say, each one is as crazy as the last and will have you sitting with your jaw wide open a majority of the time, particularly when you get to season three.
The Fall is available to stream on Amazon Prime Video and Tubi.
The Vampire Diaries

Vampires, witches, and werewolves are all the things you’ll find in this show. Based on the series by L.J. Smith, this show centers on teenager Elena Gilbert and her love triangle between vampire brothers, Damon and Stefan Salvatore. The setting is Mystic Falls Virginia a town known for it’s supernatural past. Elena and her friends slowly begin to realize the things they previously thought were myths are all true. The Vampire Diaries explores their lives dealing with not only the supernatural but, high school as well.
The Vampire Diaries is available to stream on Netflix.
You

Based on the book by Caroline Kepnes, this series about bookseller Joe Goldberg is more than meets the eye. Joe seems like a quiet and unassuming guy but he is not. After meeting Guinevere Beck, a beautiful young woman who comes into his store, he does what i’m sure a bunch of people have done, but won’t admit; he googles her on social media. It starts off as an innocent glance here but then it becomes full fledged stalking until he insinuates himself into her life by using what he’s found on the internet to be the perfect guy she wants. The thing about Joe is, he would do anything for Gwen and I mean anything. Take that how you want and watch the show to see what I mean.
You is available to stream on Netflix.
