This week’s Chicago Med was a bit of a rollercoaster. Ramona’s back, Will finally came clean about unblinding a patient, and Dr. Archer’s going through some things. Listen guys, it’s okay to not be okay. Also, I hope the Ramona situation doesn’t take a turn for the worse. Chicago Med‘s “Some Things Are Worth The Risk” didn’t end on a good note.
Will, Virani, and the Clinical Trial
The Manstead fain in me loves that Will exposed himself while trying to help Natalie. I truly think he would do anything for her, including risk his career. I don’t think he intended to come clean about unblinding his patient, but he did it while trying to help Natalie’s mom get into the clinical trial. Hopefully he didn’t screw thing up too badly though.
Virani was pissed, and rightfully so. Will not only jeopardized his career, but hers too. There’s no denying that what Will did was wrong, but I hope this doesn’t backfire on him. I don’t want Will to leave, which is why what he said while having drinks really worries me. Will loves to have people sing his praises, and he was getting a lot of praise from the clinical trial. SO it doesn’t really surprise me that he’s considering doing it full-time. However, I don’t want him to, and it doesn’t seem like Virani wants him to, either. Please tell me that Will is not going to leave the ED and please, for the love of God, tell me that this means that Will and Virani are officially over.
Oh, Natalie
The rule-breaking, law-breaking Natalie Manning we know and love made an appearance again this episode. Correct me if I’m wrong, but it’s been a while since Natalie’s done anything too controversial {and no, I’m not counting the surgery of the cancer patient from earlier this season, because Crockett was the one who instigated that one). Natalie, I love you, but what were you thinking?! You can’t just steal a package of drugs from the clinical trial!
Being the Manstead shipper that I am, I can’t help but wonder what Natalie stealing those meds will mean for the future of Manstead? The pill bottle did have Will’s name on it after all, so if what Natalie did somehow got out, it could really jeopardize his career. And if Will does end up getting a promotion through Kender, Natalie stealing those meds could ruin that. I hope I’m wrong and there’s still a chance for Manstead, but things haven’t been looking good, and this certainly won’t help things.
A Case of PTSD?
I’m down for any storyline that delves into a character’s past, and I think seeing Dean struggling with PTSD really humanized him after being such a hardass the last few episodes. He was constantly other people’s weaknesses, so it was nice to see that he has a weakness of his own. Not to say that PTSD is a weakness, but Archer definitely viewed it as one. I just hope Archer gets the help he needs.
As much as I would love to see Archer talk to Choi about his PTSD for the sake of backstory, he really should get some professional help. But first, he needs to stop being so gosh-darn stubborn and admit that he needs help in the first place. I think it was fairly obvious that there’s some things from his time in the military that are still affecting him, and he could really benefit from therapy. And who wouldn’t want to sit down for a therapy session with Dr. Charles?
Stand Out Scene
I can’t imagine Natalie actually giving her mom the meds she stole was a good idea. So many things could go wrong. Not only that, but she could end both her and Will’s careers. I probably wouldn’t go that far though because like I said before, this is Med and nobody really ever gets punished around here. I just hope Natalie knows what she’s doing.W
Like I said, so many things could go wrong by Natalie giving her mom those meds. For starters, they might not even work right. Although we have seen evidence, as Will pointed out, that the drug works. Not only that, but her mom could have some kind of reaction to the meds that could make things worse than they already are. It could also possibly end careers. Natalie’s life could change because of this, along with Will’s and her mom’s.
Best Lines
Will: I unblinded a patient, a couple months back.
Ethan: PTSD doesn’t just go away, Dean. Therapy gives you the tools to deal with it.
Virani: How am I supposed to sing your praises knowing you’ve broken the most basic rule?
Virani: I have no idea what I’m gonna do, but I can tell you this. I’m not making any exceptions to the enrollment.
Will: I didn’t want to, but I had to, for the sake of my patient.
Anna: She’s weird.
