We (and by we, I mean me and only me) aren’t really intrigued by the idea of having to watch James Bond movies. Yes, they are iconic movies, but not our (and by our, I mean me and only me) thing.
But what has been fun is the speculation of who will play James Bond now that Daniel Craig has said that he won’t be reprising his role as the famed agent.
And one name that has been tossed around? Well yes, that’s Jamie Dornan. And hey, lets be honest, he looks good in a suit, so we can get behind that.
But what does Dornan feel about the possibility of playing 007? Well while talking to Esquire, the subject came up, after he had a lot to say about the backlash that actors have been receiving lately about starring in major franchises.
“Prejudgment is such a fucking disease. It’s a disease in all our culture. In my line of work, sure. But in general, people prejudge people based on fucking anything really, and it’s very sad,” Jamie said about the backlash actors have been receiving.
He continued, “Look at the reaction when Rob got cast as Batman. It was like 90 percent negative. Daniel Craig got cast as James Bond; I mean that was 100 percent negative. It was vile what was written. It was actually disturbing when you see the fucking venomous anger that people have over casting decisions. And then guess what? Daniel Craig is fucking brilliant, and it changes the whole energy of Bond. All the naysayers love what Rob has done with Batman.”
He’s not wrong. He’s actually really on point there. It would make anyone hesitant to star in a franchise (in our opinion). So what then did Dornan have to say about being on the shortlist to play James Bond?
“It’s fun and it’s a cool thing to be in the mix for that sort of thing. I do think it’s very transparent in terms of if you look at that list, there’s not one person on that list who doesn’t have some content at the moment that’s doing well,” he said about the possibility.
