It’s not typical for me that when it comes to FBI on CBS, that I have to take a second to think about the things I want to say. I’ve been sick and so I thought hey, I’ve lost my mind, because part of me actually thought I could understand Isobel in this episode and dare I say it, may have felt a little sorry for her over this episode.
FBI is wasting no time to make sure that we all know that Maggie is okay, that she’s recovering and has months of physical therapy to go through. I am glad to know that she’s going to be okay and though at first, I was a little angry that we didn’t get to see her wake up, I get it.
It would have been a lot of her in therapy when we are going to want to see her and OA back to work and seeing how their dynamic works. Something has to change when she returns.

This weeks episode centered around a serial killer and it definitely disturbed the fuck out of me. You see a family who is happy, and the next thing you know, it’s night and someone is getting their throat slit and was stabbed multiple times, with a child seeing the whole thing.
Jubel has read the team in on everything and they are getting to work. Scola is a little shocked to see Nina there, but she just found out that she would be filling in for Maggie that morning, so she didn’t have time to warn him. One has to wonder though, does she owe an explanation?
I say no.
Nina fits in with the team seamlessly. To be honest, it is so effortless that I am hoping that we find a way for her to remain, even when Maggie recovers. She’s smart, witty, and she’s bad ass. It’s nice to see an episode of a show where it’s not drama when someone is temporarily replaced, but to see that these characters that we love are able to be mature about a situation and really just dive in.
Isobel is having her own issues. Her boss is questioning her ability to make decisions. THANK YOU! Look, I get that Isobel feels the need to prove herself (in her eyes) and that she’s doing what she can. But this season, it has felt like she has rushed to every decision and rather than being responsible for her choices, she’s had excuses. A LOT of them.
Her boss tells her that she’s getting a reputation for basically making impulsive decisions. She, of course has a million explanations, but the one thing that she can’t seem to do is accept criticism. She doesn’t ever want to hear that she could be wrong. She doesn’t want to accept her mistakes. And that is why I am so frustrated with her week after week.
Because Isobel is reckless.
But her recklessness is going to get her help that she didn’t ask for. Her boss sends in a profiler to help her with the serial killer case. Is she open to it? No. She’s ice cold to it. No one likes to be questioned, but Isobel could have used it as a way to show that she’s not in need of all the help, that her reputation is unfounded.
But that would be too easy.
The team is following all of the clues, but Isobel wastes no time in making another rash choice. With the only witness, a traumatized child, saying that she recognized someone, Isobel decides to give a press conference putting the information out into the world. AND then calling the man a coward.
The team has established that this is a serial killer, that he kills women who are powerful. Isobel is a woman in a position of power, but she does think that she’s invincible.

Sure, by releasing the information, they do get a clue that leads them to finding the killer (eventually), but what it does also is make her a target. The team finds her address in a book that the killer kept in regards to all of the people he killed.
When Jubel finally gets a hold of her, to warn her, she’s like na, couldn’t be me. But she then sees an intruder in her house. They struggle, fight, and he gets away. She is startled, but one thing that did come of it is that she realizes that the killer is wearing a mask. A silicone one.
See, the thing is that Isobel didn’t listen, put information out into the world, and it was wrong. She should have listened to the profiler and made sure of what she was putting into the world. But what she has done is the opposite of that.
Yes, her putting it out there led to clues, but it also led to that little girl – the one who survived and witnessed the attacks, being taken and held hostage. That little girls father was the killer.
The team is able to save her and capture the killer, but one has to wonder, what could have been done to save her from the additional trauma this little girl is obviously experiencing and will continue to experience.
Definitely thankful for the team and the fact that they were able to save her. Nina kicked ass taking the man down. The thing one has to wonder though, did Isobel learn a lesson?

Did she learn that she needs to be more careful? Did she learn that even though she goes off instinct, she also needs to make sure that she’s protecting others? Yes, maybe I am a little harsh on her and sometimes what people need to follow is their instinct. But also what they need to do is make sure to not endanger others.
Isobel is my least favorite character on FBI, but I am hoping to find a way to like her.
OTHER THOUGHTS
- Scola’s face when he sees Nina at the office made me LOL
- Tiff remains to be one of the best characters on the show.
- Townhouses in Brooklyn are so beautiful
- How the fuck does Isobel afford a home like she has?
