Loki, Mobius, and Sylvie are back in the first footage for Loki Season 2 on Disney+. The highly-anticipated second season of the Marvel Studios series isn’t expected on the streaming service until 2023. Nevertheless, Disney+ unveiled a closer look at Loki Season 2 in its sizzle reel for its upcoming projects for the new year, including Star Wars: Ahsoka and Disney’s Peter Pan & Wendy.
Tom Hiddleston narrates the short teaser, saying, “2023 on Disney+, it’s going to be quite a year. New stories, definitely. New faces. And some familiar ones, too, like this handsome fellow.” That last line leads right into a new look at the God of Mischief in Loki Season 2. As it appears, Loki will keep up his hijinx at the Time Variance Authority (TVA). The intrigue lies in which TVA and which Loki with which Mobius.

Season 2 has plenty of questions to answer since Loki Season 1 ended with chaos across the multiverse. The finale reveals that Loki winds up back at the TVA, but with a version of Mobius who doesn’t recognize Loki. Not to mention, Kang the Conquerer or “He Who Remains” reigns supreme — with statues in his honor to prove it. Plus, Sylvie is somewhere among the various timelines.
No matter what those external stressors may mean for the cohesive narratives in the Marvel Cinematic Universe or how such a massive event may internally impact Loki, the trickster hasn’t lost his flair for the dramatics. Mobius even asks Loki, “A little over the top, don’t you think?” when faced with not one but three Lokis in formal attire.
However, with Loki‘s introduction of Variants, those duplicates could be just that or an example of Loki’s magical projection skills.
If you’re looking for an update on Sophia Di Martino‘s Sylvie, there’s a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it look at the character at the start of the sizzle reel. Sylvie’s casual attire suggests that she’s successfully avoiding any interference from the TVA, maintaining a life of free will outside the TVA’s restrictions. There’s also the possibility that the single shot of Sylvie is from early in the season, and the TVA hasn’t turned its focus to Sylvie just yet.

Albeit, it should take the organization only a short time, even if that organization is just Loki and Mobius. Though the duo leaves Season 1 on rocky footing since Mobius has no memory of Loki after a season-long arc of building a rapport and respect, the new Loki footage suggests they team up relatively early in Season 2. So, rest assured, one of the MCU’s most fun — and chaotic — trios should be together again.
Now, when and where they’ll be together again is another story.
As Hiddleston says, “There’s only one place that’s home to all of this and so much more — Disney+,” there’s a final shot of Loki falling from the sky (It’s his thing now!) in a TVA jumpsuit. That footage sums up how Loki fans feel after mere seconds of Loki Season 2.
Luckily, fans of the franchise won’t have to wait too long for new Marvel Studios projects. 2023 is right around the corner, and so is the MCU’s Phase 5, which the new season of Loki will be a part of when it debuts.

Loki was renewed for its second season in July 2021 — the same day as its Season 1 finale.
As a result, it became the first and only live-action MCU series to gain a renewal. Variety reports, “Season 1 writer Eric Martin is penning all the episodes of the second season, while Moon Knight directors Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead are helming the majority of the episodes.” Loki‘s returning cast includes Tom Hiddleston, Sophia Di Martino, Owen Wilson, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.
In July, Deadline exclusively reported that Blindspotting‘s Rafael Casal would join the show’s cast. At the D23 Expo in September, Marvel Studios announced that Season 2 was in production and, per TV Line, revealed that Everything Everywhere All at Once star Ke Huy Quan would join the series.
Plot details and character descriptions are still under wraps, but it wouldn’t be Loki if there weren’t chaotic anticipation of what’s to come in Season 2. It’s all in character!
