We know we can’t be the only ones enjoying all of the announcements of limited series. It feels like a limited commitment from us, but also less likely that we’ll be so frustrated we’re going to scream over someone thinking that cancellation of the television show is a good idea.
All too many people nowadays like to cancel shows before giving them the time to find an audience.
A community.
And that’s what people need. They need time to be able to find a reason to like the show. They need time to find the emotional investment.
But with limited series, we know that we’re going to get the series and we know that our investment will be worth it. And a limited series with Benedict Cumberbatch as the lead? Yes please.
The title? Eric.
“Eric is a dark and crazy journey into the heart of 1980’s New York, and the good bad and ugly world of Vincent,” said script writer Abi Morgan in a statement. “The chance to work with Benedict and the creative team at Sister and Netflix, is irresistible.”
Benedict Cumberbatch has been cast as the lead and will executive produce, Netflix’s Eric, playing a puppeteer in the 1980’s whose son went missing in Manhattan. Cumberbatch plays Vincent Anderson, who is grief stricken and distraught. But what does he do? He creates a friendship with the monster that lives under his sons bed. The monsters name is Eric.
Gaby Hoffman, McKinley Belcher II, Dan Fogler and Phoebe Nicholls will star opposite Cumberbatch in the Netflix series.
