Did you just hear someone scream? That was me, before the full on tears of joy set in. Stop judging me (and then again, I am okay if you do), The Way Home has been renewed for a second season on The Hallmark Channel.
I now understand why it’s been the longest week known to man kind, because Christmas came early for this writer. I opened my e-mail hoping to avoid a meeting and saw greatness.
The Way Home has been renewed for a second season on The Hallmark Channel.
The Way Home tells the story of three generations of Landry women – who are all strong, willful and independent. More than 20 years prior, life changing events prompted Kat to move away from her small, Canadian farm town and to become estranged from her Mom. At a crossroads in her life, Kat moves back with Alice to her family’s farm though the reunion isn’t what Kat envisioned. When Alice and Kat unwittingly discover the ability to travel between the past and present, mother and daughter are determined to unearth the truth around the earlier tragedies as they try to change the course of events. Kat’s childhood friend Elliot is there for them in both eras as they navigate their journeys across time, helping the three women find their way back to each other.
“The press and our audience have enthusiastically embraced The Way Home from the first
episode making the decision to renew the series an easy one,” said Lisa Hamilton Daly, Executive
Vice President, Programming, Hallmark Media. “We’re thrilled to be able to continue the journey
of the Landry family and can’t wait for fans to see what’s next.”
And while this statement has made me happy, what has made me even happier is that they aren’t going to even try to wrap up this rich and prolific story in one season. Because, you know it’s all about me (I mean us… definitely us) and all of the questions that we I (I mean us) have.
“Heather Conkie, Alexandra Clarke and Marly Reed have created a rich, textured story filled with
heart and mixed with intrigue that’s proven to be a winning combination,” remarked Laurie
Ferneau, Senior Vice President, Development, Hallmark Media. “Season two is sure to bring more
drama and mystery as the Landry family’s history is revealed.”
Though I am still staking a lot on Jacob returning during the towns festival, this news means that we are going to get more information.
I think I am speaking for all of us when I say that we need to know what happened to Jacob (yes, I know that they told us, but maybe I am basic, because I am still confused).
I think I am speaking for all of us when I say that we need to know if Brady married into the Landry family because his family wants their powers.
I think I am speaking for all of us when I say that we need to know if Jacob time traveled and got lost in time.
I think I am speaking for all of us when I say that we need to know if Del is the witch that jumped into the pond.
I think I am speaking for all of us when I say that we need to know if Elliot and Kat will get together.
There are so many questions and well, Fangirlish will definitely be exploring those until season two comes out.
The drama stars Andie MacDowell, Chyler Leigh, Evan Williams, Sadie Laflamme Snow, Alex Hook, Al Mukadam, Jefferson Brown and David Webster.
The series currently airs Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The Hallmark Channel.
