We’ve been looking forward to Peacock’s original series Twisted Metal ever since we started hearing the casting news. Now that the first look images and sneak peek clip are here, we’re just basically like give it to us now. We weren’t even entirely sure what we were in for until we saw the footage of Anthony Mackie’s John Doe fighting, then singing the “Thong Song” with, Sweet Tooth (Will Arnett/Samoa Joe). Now that we have a better idea, it’s looking like this is going to be a fun one.
Even though the clip (which we’ll get to below) only shows John Doe and Sweet Tooth, we also finally have some images of several other key players. To point out a couple of our favorites: Check out Stephanie Beatriz as Quiet and Neve Campbell (credited as a guest star) as Raven. We really can’t wait until we see actual footage of them in these roles, but we’ll go ahead and appreciate the photos now that they’re here (even if we are kinda confused about how Campbell looks so put together in a post-apocalyptic world). And until we get to watch these two as their new characters, we’ll be happy to rewatch Brooklyn Nine-Nine for Beatriz and/or have our eleventy billionth Scream marathon for Campbell. (That last one may or may not be an over estimate…but only just.)
But ok. Back to the topic at hand. As we mentioned above, the brand new sneak peek clip starts in one place and ends somewhere very different. And full disclosure: It cracked us the hell up. Switching from some tense action like that — which is predictably good, given Samoa Joe’s on the AEW roster and Mackie’s a superhero — to bonding over Sisqo’s 1999/early 2000 hit is certainly a big swerve. But it works. Not to mention, Will Arnett (who voices Sweet Tooth) and Mackie aren’t exactly too bad on the vocals here.
In a note to the press (previously released — no strike-breaking here), showrunner/EP/writer Jonathan Smith described the series as “a bonkers show about insiders and outsiders, and how our own special apocalypse has divided and isolated us more than ever. But there’s hope. You can find your people and your community. You may just have to get past a terrifying clown driving a well-armed ice cream truck to find them.” And, as far as we’re concerned, everything about this showdown-turned-broment embodies exactly that.
Feel free to take our word for it. Or, you can just watch below. Whichever works!

Side note: “I listened to Unleash the Dragon so many times, the disc broke” is probably going to be a relatable line for a lot of viewers. And no, we’re not going to think about how many years ago that was. (On the plus side, there’s no disc to break from watching this clip a bunch of times. You might kill your device’s battery, though.)

If you missed the first teaser that came out last month, we’ve got that for you, too…
And here’s the series synopsis:
“TWISTED METAL, a half-hour live-action TV series based on the classic PlayStation game series, is a high-octane action comedy, based on an original take by Rhett Reese & Paul Wernick and written by Michael Jonathan Smith, about a motor-mouthed outsider offered a chance at a better life, but only if he can successfully deliver a mysterious package across a post-apocalyptic wasteland. With the help of a badass axe-wielding car thief, he’ll face savage marauders driving vehicles of destruction and other dangers of the open road, including a deranged clown who drives an all too familiar ice cream truck. “
