At first, all these horror movies based on fairytales and well-known properties were fun. It was different and pushing into uncharted territory that put a twist on stories we grew up on. There were the horror movie versions of Winnie the Pooh, Cinderella, and even Fiona from Shrek. You’ve even got some weird ones with gnomes and then that other one with a sloth. Now we have horror movies based on Mary Had a Little Lamb and Three Blind Mice.
Seriously, this is not a joke.
According to the synopsis for Mary Had a Little Lamb, tells the story of a radio house that sets out to discover the truth behind some mysterious disappearances. Following the path of those who disappeared they come across a mysterious woman who cares for, and you guessed it, a lamb mutant. Plot twist, the lamb is done with these humans and makes them pay.
Then there’s Three Blind Mice. Now this one gets weirder so prepare yourself. According to the synopsis, it tells the story of a woman who is going cold turkey from her substance abuse problem. So she goes out into the woods with her family to stay at a cabin and ride it through. But of course, they’re not alone. Three mutant rat-men have come sniffing around with the need to maim and kill. Oh, and of course they’re blind.
The thing is…it’s not cute or funny anymore. If anything it’s feeling a little desperate and in the same line as big studios doing remakes of the same thing over and over again. Some people will enjoy these movies for sure. And I love the creativity behind these because who doesn’t like a horror movie with a twist? But I’m tired and I bet there are other people tired too.
No matter how much of a cash grab these are, their watchable will probably come down to production values and not script/story like it should. These are clearly utterly brainless. Unfortunately trashy trends produce few diamonds
