We still can’t stop thinking about last weeks opening of The Golden Bachelor and seeing Gerry Turner talk all about his late wife Toni. It brings tears to our eyes and also an ache to our hearts.
We want a love that real love and those two had it.
The Golden Bachelor isn’t something that we expected to love so much, but it is something that we thought highly of. The reality is that everyone deserves love and we fell for Gerry. He’s just so genuine (and we hope it stays that way).
The Golden Bachelor showed a preview of the season, where we saw Gerry say, “The only time I’ve ever felt worse in my whole life is when my wife passed away, and this is a goddamn close second.”
One has to wonder what happened, because Gerry just doesn’t seem like a bad guy. So what happened? We will be watching to see.
Gerry has been pretty open about his grief and we have to admit that we are appreciative and in awe of his vulnerability.
“After Tony passed away, there were many, many dark days. And I keep thinking, “OK, I’m better. I’m to the point where I’m OK,'” he told Entertainment Tonight. “And finally, you know I haven’t shared this very much, but it was about three years in and I have a good friend that recommended a grief counselor. So I went and had a couple visits with the grief counselor and the guy told me, ‘You’re OK.'”
We’re have so many questions about Gerry dealing with his grief and how the search for love will affect him. We hope that he’s found love. We want him to be happy.
The Golden Bachelor airs Thursdays on ABC.
