We all knew that with Britney Spears releasing her memoir, people would come out of the woodwork and start talking. It’s one of those things that happen all of the time when someone speaks up. Maybe it’s that they want attention. Maybe they want their fifteen minutes of Britney fame.
Because yes, you can be famous and that is one thing. But when you add Britney Spears adjacent to your fame, people are going to pay more attention. We understand that. Why? Because we pay more attention when it comes to Britney. Being fans of hers, we want to know that she’s okay.
She’s been through a lot.
Andy Cohen definitely doesn’t need Britney adjacent fame, but is talking out about his time interviewing Britney. And all we have to say is why didn’t he speak out during her conservatorship?
The Watch What Happens Live host has a radio show, SiriusXM’s Andy Cohen Live, and on the show he spoke about interviewing Britney.
“I interviewed her for her album release party, I think for Glory and her manager at the time, I think it was Larry Rudolph, thought that it would be a good way for me to get to know her and then if I got to know her, maybe someday she would do Watch What Happens Live because she didn’t like going on shows where she didn’t know the host and the reason she would always go on Ellen was because she had a relationship with her and this would be a way for me to build my relationship with her, so I flew to LA to just interview her,” he said on the show.
He continued, “Now our friends Randy Barbato and Fenton Bailey from The WOW Report, of course, they had told me, I said, ‘Well, what can I expect?’ because they were shooting an hour kind of documentary on Britney for MTV or VH1 at the time and they said, basically, and I don’t think Britney had come out at the time and said she was under a conservatorship, but they said, ‘There’s this woman who is at Britney‘s side at all times and she basically tells her what to do and where to go and it’s really creepy.'”
We can’t even imagine what that is like. It feels like Britney was in a prison by her fathers design. It makes us angrier, but also see how strong Britney is. We love and support her.
“And I get there and this woman was there and it was like Britney was her captive. She was her captor. Now Britney mentions her by name in the book a lot and how much she hated her and I’m not gonna mention her name because I don’t want to get sued, but it was really creepy.”
We get that no one wants sued. And hey, we’re not blaming anything on Andy. It just feels weird and upsetting that people are now speaking up about what they saw her going through.
