Hello favorite episode of the season. Yes, you read that right. Episode 7 was my favorite episode of the season (I haven’t watched #8 yet, so that may change). Episode 7 was a lot of crazy, but it was crazy that we all needed. LAID has shown how an off the wall premise can be addicting and enticing. LAID is really d**n good.
Picking up where we left off – with Brad and the hex – I found myself laughing as everyone but Ruby is coddling Brad and making sure he’s okay. AJ has someone to talk about Ruby with and she knows that it’s making Ruby mad that she’s taking Brads side.

Ruby isn’t a bad person. At least I don’t think so. She’s made a lot of mistakes in her life, yes. She’s slept with a lot of people that she’s ghosted after she did just that. Ok, she’s done all of that. But so have a lot of people and it is one of those things that I, personally, don’t think that we can shame her for. I think that if we call her a bad person, we’re sex shaming.
And that’s not a good thing.
I will say that Ruby has every reason to be mad at Brad. He’s done wrong and people need to call him out. But, Ruby, has to deal with the other thing in front of her – Isaac showing up.
Ruby having to explain what is going on and being completely truthful with Isaac is going to be a challenge for her, but she’s in a space where she has to do it. Her spouting off the truth, I was clapping. That was some boss babe s***. Isaac looking at her like she’s lost her mind was expected, because I would have done the same.
The thing about LAID is they are playing with my heart. Why do I say that? Because my body, mind, and soul has chosen my ship – Isaac and Ruby. Richie acting like he’s a part of this equation – not here for it. I am here for Isaac and Ruby figuring out their relationship.

But in order to do that – this hex has to go. That means retracting Brads steps and well, being with how annoying Brad is, that just doesn’t sound like a good time. Leave it to Ruby to try to be making up with AJ, and AJ to want to be solving everything.
AJ is a master at finding people and things. She’s able to find the woman who put the ex on Ruby. She is a lady who now works for Cinnabon. There was a lot of disrespect happening for the Cinnabon name and we all have to put some respect on the greatness of that taste and the icing.
We find out that the hex can not be lifted, but can be transferred. This is an effed up hex. Like how unfair is it to put that on someone else. I do however, get why anyone would want to put that on someone else. I wouldn’t want to deal with that guilt. There is something about the whole thing, that I just can’t be mad at Ruby for wanting to transfer the hex to someone else, because I also wouldn’t want to live with that guilt of everyone dying because of me.
This show does so well in exploring all avenues and taking things that seems so whatever and making them so outrageous. It’s that line between drama and boring – they tether it so well. Part of what makes this show so good is how they take everything that is supposed to be simple and they make it so outrageous. It’s all so dramatic.
I love it.
I do love the whole aspect of that the hex can only be transferred, because then you can set up a second season with new characters if you need to. It opens it to a bunch of possibilities and I do love possibilities.
But back to Ruby. Ruby’s issues are the definition of liking drama, as long as you aren’t involved in the drama.

She’s got a lot to figure out. Isaac thinks she’s a liar, her best friend hates her, and she’s got a list of people that are dying because of her. She’s trying to be selfless, but she’s also being selfish. I actually feel very conflicted of what I think she is. I think she does too, which is why she is sitting there and eating white cheddar popcorn and watching movies.
Right when I think that I am having a moment where I am figuring things out, this show sets me on a different road. It says to us all that we know nothing and it’s going to knock us on our rear ends trying to figure it all out. But it’s going to be fun to watch.
Richie and Ruby are having a moment and I thought okay – she’s about to have sex with him and he’s going to be where she settles, because he’s her loophole. Only this is when Isaac shows up and we’re getting a love triangle.
Isaac delivers a speech that made me only want this ship even more. It was this speech all about finding love and finding a way around things. He was committed and he wanted to make sure that him and Ruby had a chance. He had done his research and actually seen Ruby’s next on the list die. Isaac believed her.
We leave off with Ruby looking at them both and this has suddenly turned into a love triangle.
Sorry, Richie, you gotta go.
LAID is streaming now on Peacock.
