We’re high off the last episode of The Way Home because families came back together. With the series getting ready to come to an end, we need to know that our favorite characters aren’t alone. We need to understand that they have each other and that none of them are suffering. It’s a lot to see them go through so much and the idea of them not having each other makes me sad.
So as we journey into episode 6, I am left wondering what will happen next in 1925 and in 1979. I am left wondering what Tessa decided to stay in the past for, why Elliott wasn’t good enough for her. And yes, I took that as her treating him like he wasn’t enough. Why? Because knowing that she’s had opportunities to go back and still decided to stay feels gross to me.
JACOB
Jacob has a lot on his mind, but I don’t think one of those is actually staying in Port Haven. Being there brings up a lot of bad memories and for Jacob, that is a really hard pill to swallow. Seeing him being hone is definitely something that is great for Del, but Jacob still needs to live his life.
The thing is though, I don’t think Jacob likes Toronto. I don’t believe it puts him at peace like a place should. If he’s going to stay in the present, he’s going to build a life.
I do believe that he finds a part of that life in his relationship with Abby. He’s old fashioned and he feels that connection immediately with her. He wants to know her better and doesn’t even care that she’s a Goodwin. Instead, he cares that she sees him and listens to him.
Abby may have different feelings though, because it feels like she only pays attention to the past and doesn’t think about things could change.
They do change.
There is a reason that Jacob and Abby met for a reason. What it is – not sure. But we will see.
STORMY
Dels horse being all over the place isn’t fun. She doesn’t like that Stormy has lost in trust in Del. I think therefore Jacob offering to work with her is hard for Del.
She likes control.
But something happened with Stormy I do believe that we may not know in the timeline that we want to. I also don’t get Del’s trepidation on letting Jacob work with Stormy.
Del was a little cruel (okay, a lot) when she tells Jacob she doesn’t want him working with Stormy, because if he leaves again, Stormy will have trust issues again. It was a trip to see Del be so direct and kinda cruel to her son.
Eventually Jacob will ask Del to stay – tell her that he wants to move back home. How she said it was problematic, but we always let Del get away with things, unfortunately.
She needs to learn to be kinder in her approach with her kids. Isolating them serves no purpose.
NEW YORK
Not sure when will ever be a good time for anyone to leave the Landry farm. There’s something magical about being there. So yes, I can see why Alice has some hesitation about leaving the farm and going off to college.
Casey doesn’t seem to know how to communicate with Alice because when she tells her that she wouldn’t regret following her heart, Alice interprets that as putting off college. I think that Alice has to follow her heart, but i do hope that following of her heart leads her to Max.
But hey, here we are.
Alice took the initiative to defer for a semester. Kat wasn’t happy and I don’t think that Alices Dad was either. But Alice was secure with her choice.
Have to wonder though if it was made out of fear of leaving or her intuition that she needed to be at the farm. She needed to solve this whole mystery of what was happening with her family. Whatever it is, I do hope that Alice isn’t only defining her worth by the pond and the mysteries that she’s able to solve.
Her scavenger hunt with Max is endearing. Why? Because these two are falling into their feelings and I love that. I love that because I ship Max and Alice. That’s all I will be commenting at this time.
I really want Max and Alice to be together because they fit. I believe that she’s got a future with him.
ABBY
The Langley and Goodwin families have a lot of history. Abby makes the connection when she and Jacob run into Max and Alice at the coffee shop.
I haven’t forgotten what Jacob did to the vineyard. Yet, I also haven’t forgotten what the Goodwins have done to the Landry’s.
Now, I have a new thought on Casey. Jacob wants to know why she’s there and who she is. Casey is very whatever about it – and I have always thought that she’s Max and Alice’s daughter. But could she be Abby and Jacobs?
If she is – well that would make sense. But she’s definitely one of theirs.
Casey showed up out of the blue and yes, we don’t know why she’s there. The pond does take you where you need go through.
THE CIRCUS
When Kat and Elliot travel back in time – he wants nothing more than to be able to get answers from his Mom. But how do you get answers when they don’t want to give you any. Tessa isn’t going to give any up.
And we’re not going to get answers.
At least that’s how I feel. She treats Elliott like he’s an inconvenience and that’s gross.
Tessa is all over the place and I see that. Whatever she is up to, she’s so cold to her son. I think that we all know that she’s not up to any good. What kills me though is that Elliott – for all his faults – doesn’t deserve the parents that he has.
He deserve better.
What makes me angry though is that Elliott doesn’t communicate. Instead he just makes everything about him and is a hypocrite. I would love for him to have a happy ending and he gets all his answers, but I don’t see that happening.
Especially since Kat thinks she left him behind but when she realizes that he stayed on purpose, everything will change.
OTHER THOUGHTS
- Jacob finally seems to be finding some direction in his life and for that I am thankful.
- Danny deserves better.
