Netflix’s Fear Street: Prom Queen takes us back to Shadyside, the school shown in Fear Street 1994 and Fear Street 1666. The next installment of the Fear Street franchise is based on R.L. Stine’s 1992 book The Prom Queen. And this prom season, the school’s wolfpack of It Girls at Shadyside High are busy with their usual sweet and vicious campaigns for the crown.
But like with most movies that start with popular kids reigning supreme, an outsider is unexpectedly nominated to the prom court. This throws everything off for the It Girls. Oh also the fact the other girls start mysteriously disappearing. And knowing how the previous Fear Street movies went, expect murder and tons of blood but with an 80s twist.
Fear Street: Prom Queen features a talented cast that includes India Fowler (The Nevers, Insomnia), Suzanna Son (Red Rocket, The Idol), Fina Strazza (Paper Girls, Above the Shadows), David Iacono (The Summer I Turned Pretty, Cinnamon), Ella Rubin (The Idea of You), Chris Klein (Sweet Magnolias, American Pie), Lili Taylor (Outer Range, Manhunt), Katherine Waterston (The End We Start From, Perry Mason), and Ariana Greenblatt (Barbie, Avengers: Infinity War).
You can see some of these actors in the BTS clip Netflix released, with the 80s of it all screaming at you from the camera quality to the outfits. And with two days left for senior prom, there’s no doubt that the cursed Shadyside High will see its students suffer. Because it’s either going to be someone taking revenge for a past slight or some supernatural business. Personally, I hope it’s a little of both. This is R.L. Stine after all.
Fear Street: Prom Queen is currently in production.
