American Gods, the Starz show based on Neil Gaiman’s critically acclaimed book, is set to return March 10, 2019! The show stars Ricky Whittle as Shadow Moon and Ian McShane as Mr. Wednesday aka Odin. After months of speculation whether they were returning, cast mates dropping like flies, and new EP’s taking the reigns, it’s exciting to know that we’re so close to season 2!
When the show returns on March 10th, Mr. Town (Dean Winters) will be tasked by Mr. World (Crispin Glover) to find Shadow and Mr. Wednesday. Mr. World knows what Mr. Wednesday has up his sleeve and he’ll do anything he can to stop the god, no matter how brutal his methods ultimately are or who he hurts along the way.
It’s important to note that the brilliant Bryan Fuller and Michael Green will not be returning for season 2 of American Gods. Jesse Alexander, known for his work on Star Trek: Discovery, Hannibal, Lost, and Alias, is set to be season 2’s executive producer. He won’t be the only one taking on this role though. He’ll be accompanied by EP’s Neil Gaiman, Ian McShane, Craig Cegielski, Scott Hornbacher and Stefanie Berk.
Chris Byrne, also known for his work on Hannibal, will be directing the premiere episode. He’ll be joined by co-executive producers Heather Bellson, who worked on AMC’s The Walking Dead, and Rodney Barnes, who worked on Freeform’s Runaways.
So, yes things have shifted around a lot since season one ended. And yes, there will be new people behind the scenes and in your face in the form of a new Media, played by the talented Kahyun Kim. But there’s power and a great amount of love that has gone into season 2 of American Gods. It’s the reason why I’ll be watching and the reason why you should too!
