Life is complicated. It doesn’t really matter where you are, where you life, and what you do. The truth is life just feed you complications.
But you know, my Mom always taught me that it’s not what knocks you down, it’s how you get back up again. That’s what matters. And for Emily, she keeps finding ways to get back up and that’s what makes her character so relatable.
Because relatable is important when you want to get anyone invested in a television show. And I am invested.
The fourth episode of Emily In Paris is entitled, A Kiss Is Just A Kiss. But is it? Well… not in my history. However, the thing is it could be. But more frequently a kiss is like a drug that leads to falling on some D. (and if you don’t know what D is – it’s dick).
A sweet new acquaintance helps Emily sniff out a potentially huge new client, but a messy workplace liaison endangers the deal.
It’s just a bad thing when that D is attached to a hot dude that is off limits.
FLOWERS AND FRIENDS
I have this thing in life – where I don’t like flowers. I feel like if you are going to invest money in something that is going to die, just hand me cash. I mean I am not gonna live forever.
Emily is buying flowers and the lady doesn’t want to give her the good ones. But there are always good people, no matter where you go. Emily meets a kind stranger who helps her get the good flowers.
Enter Camille, who may be my favorite character in this show. She’s kind and optimistic and full of life. She treats Emily with kindness, which is something she really needs right now.
Some friends you instantly bond with and these two did just that. Which I give them props for because if some stranger started talking to me on the street and following me around – I would probably mace or taze them. But that’s just me.
Camille invites Emily to an art opening that night. I like that these two carry the same energy. Sometimes you meet someone in life and you know that things are just right. You’re supposed to be friends. You’re supposed to be in each others lives, no matter what the outcome.

TRADER JOES PEANUT BUTTER
Emily arrives back at her apartment, and there are a lot of packages waiting for her. She’s excited, because she’s got little pieces of home with her. But these are big ass boxes.
I learned a long time ago – with as much as I move around – that you don’t want to pack a lot of big boxes. You want to pack light boxes, because most likely you are going to have to carry these boxes and your muscles will hurt.
A LOT.
But then there is also the chance that it will be like Emily, where you live in a 5th floor walkup and have to carry them. She’s lucky though, because as always, Gabriel shows up at the most opportune time. She’s lucky cause not many men would walk up five flights of stairs carrying boxes.
But any chance that I have to see these two together is going to be good for me. I love these two – they are my ship.
Gabriel tells her that he can make her something better and he does. Like I am gonna sound like a horny woman, because I legitimately was like that shit would turn me on. He’s so hot that I can’t take it.
He would be my favorite mistake.
IDEAS ARE LIES
Well, Emily doesn’t know how to just mind her own business, but that’s okay. That’s part of what I love about her. She’s outspoken and determined and beautiful at it.
When she heads to the office, Antoine and Sylvie are they’re arguing and Emily decides that she’s going to intercede. So she walks into Sylvie’s argument and tries to fix the situation. She says that she has gotten in Randy Zimmer to consider a signature smell for his hotels and is interested in Antoines group making the scent.
I admire the fact that Emily wants to help Sylvie, but this is a risk. And one that could backfire. It’s help that Sylvie will never want and she will make it known that she didn’t want it. We all know that Sylvie is very jealous of Emily and when it comes to Antoine, it would be best for her to stay away.
Not to mention that Sylvie is still pissed as fuck that Emily got La Perla and she thinks that it came from Antoine. I mean, granted, it did, but Sylvie doesn’t need to know that.
CHICACO MEET CHICAGO
I love Mindy’s influence on Emily. We all need that carefree friend that gives us courage and listens to us like no one else does. Mindy wants Emily to have an amazing Paris experience, which she knows won’t be easy, but it will be worth it.
Mindy and Emily go to Camilles art opening and are in for a good time. They are talking about Antoine and the lingerie – which Emily says that she’s giving back. Emily is trying to tell Mindy how it’s wrong and Mindy is trying to tell Emily she needs to have one wildly inappropriate affair. I have to agree with Mindy. At least one wildly inappropriate affair in life is exciting.
Emily and Randy Zimmer talk. She is over zealous and starts repeating his interviews back to him. I think it’s weird, she think it’s normal. She asks why his hotels don’t have an echo. She tells him that his hotel doesn’t have a smell and that they should. See happy smells remind people of happy places.
Emily has a good elevator pitch and it makes Randy want to hear more.
LA PERLA
The meeting goes so well that the group decides to have dinner that night. Sylvie tasks Emilie with getting them into an expensive restaurant. She’s pissed, because Antoine, again, is paying more attention to Emily.
He asks if she like the gift. The La Perla is a nice gift, don’t get me wrong. Emily tells Antoine that his gift was thoughtful, but unnecessary and a tad inappropriate. Personally I think she’s being nice, but that’s just me. He tells her he bought the lingerie for her – he wanted her to feel sexy and powerful. Emily likes to keep professional and personal life separate.
We all do Emily, but shit has a way of working itself out.

UP AND COMING
Emily thinks she got them into VeFour, the expensive restaurant, but she didn’t pay attention and accidentally made the reservation for November. I get her point, I woulda been confused that 8/11 wasn’t August 11th also. I however do know Americans do things their own way, you know being as I am one.
She calls Gabriel to help her out. His restaurant is about to close, but she says they will be there soon. Gabriel is always there to save the day.
Dinner goes well, they all love it. They make the deal.
Sylvie is happy to know that Gabriel is real. You can see that Gabriel likes Emily and that Emily likes him.
Sylvie tells her she did a good job today. They are all going out after dinner, but Sylvie tells Emily that she has something better to do. she can see that they like Gabriel likes her, just as we all can. And I am thankful that everyone is on board with this ship.
It gives Emily courage and she heads back into the restaurant. She kisses Gabriel and no joke – my shipper heart couldn’t be happier. But it only takes a few seconds for me to see that shit’s really complicated.
You see – Camille – the beautiful blonde that helped Emily get the roses? Well, that girl is Gabriels boyfriends and that makes everything complicated.
Paris really is a small town.
