Things Heard and Seen premieres tomorrow on Netflix! You already know that we found this film interesting from the beginning and we had the pleasure of speaking with its filmmakers Robert Pulcini and Shari Springer Berman who told us what it was like for them to bring this fascinating story to life. Ready?
Here we go!
As you can see, Robert and Shari are really charming and kind. The questions we asked them were not exactly easy because it’s never easy for a filmmaker to choose a favorite scene or one that is especially difficult because of how emotionally intense it is.
Robert and Shari share with us how the whole cast, especially Amanda Seyfried is excellent and gives her best and even more than that. From here, we cannot agree more with them. I mean, the whole cast nails it but Amanda Seyfried really shakes you up and takes you right there, right into the story. INCREDIBLE.
Also, from what Robert and Shari tell us, working with the entire cast was really a pleasure. They were a small family sharing a great adventure and leaving a part of themselves in it.
Apart from this, making an adaptation is never easy and, although Robert and Shari overcome the challenge in a brilliant way, it wasn’t easy for them to choose what they should, without any doubt, bring to life directly from the book and what could stay in the imagination of the viewer. We’re interested in this part of the creative process to find out what it was like for them to say “this scene should be included in our film”.
Of course, you already know that we love to follow the artists that really interest us, so the question about Robert and Shari’s next project couldn’t be left out and this proyect sounds really interesting.
Also, we asked a slightly personal question. Robert and Shari experienced that great moment in any artist’s career of winning an Emmy and being Oscar nominees for their incredible work and we were curious to know exactly what it was like the moment they found out, how they lived such a huge milestone of their careers.
We all known that writing is an art and you really feel that it is when you talk to them. Their shared passion, their second great love is writing. And they impress that passion when they talk about their work.
It’s not very common for an artist to give you such a clear image of the way they work, of how they create their art, like the one Robert and Shari gave us. It was an immense pleasure talking to them but, above all, listening to them. We love learning something from each artist we interview and the two of them taught us so much. As you can see in the video, I was spellbound listening to them because they literally had me spellbound.
When a person speaks with such knowledge, with such passion, about the work that they do every day, it’s … a truly enriching and wonderful experience.
Robert and Shari were not only passionate, but also really lovely. They answered absolutely everything that we proposed, they followed our game and we felt that they made us part of their experience.
We can’t wait for you to see Things Heard and Seen and hopefully we can talk to Robert and Shari again soon. Of course, it’s an experience that we would love to repeat.
