One thing that we love so much about Camila Cabello is that she is very open and talks about things that we can relate to. Family, body image, crippling anxiety. The singer has made us, as well as many, feel less along in what they are going through and that is something we can respect.
She was The Kelly Clarkson Show, promoting her latest album, Familia. We don’t know what it is about Kelly, but she’s able to get people to open up in a way that most aren’t.
And while on the show, Clarkson and Cabello talked about the making of the record and why it was therapeutic for Cabello.
“At the beginning of this album I was having such a bad time mental health-wise,” Camila said while on the show. “It was crippling anxiety that was really hard for me. I feel like because I was in that place, I isolated a lot.”
She talked about how she knew that she needed to be in a better place before being around other people. That realization alone, is one that we know is hard to come to. Knowing that you need help and finding your way to it is a big step in healing.
The singer went on to talk about being in the studio and how sometimes it felt performative. She wanted to proved that she was a good writer, and that meant opening up.
And that in turn helped her with other things in her life.
“Starting to be open with the collaborators in the studio process extended into my real life,” she said about how it helped her. “Suddenly I was like ‘Oh, I can be really anxious and still hang out with my friends and just tell them about my baggage.’”
We’re proud of Camila for opening up and thankful that she does.
