Look, there are books and movies and television shows for everything, it seems. Now while we once thought that there would never have a movie called Cocaine Bear (or you know the fact that it’s based on a true story), here we are.
We’ve got that.
And it’s from Elizabeth Banks. That wasn’t on our bingo card either.
But as the movie has its promotional rounds, we’re learning that we should have been thinking bigger way back in 1985.
The movie stars Keri Russell, Margo Martindale, Alden Ehrenreich, O’Shea Jackson Jr., Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and the late great Ray Liotta. It looks like a hot mess, but we know that we could be wrong about that too.
However, with the rounds that it’s making, fans have wondered about the possibility of a Cocaine Shark movie. See, in New Zealand they found a lot of drugs washing up from the Pacific Ocean and people are asking if Cocaine Shark may be a possibility.
Director Elizabeth Banks has been doing press and was asked about the fan requests.
“I’ve seen that. If there’s a great story, then sure,” Banks said when speaking to People. “Jaws with cocaine, I don’t see how that loses.”
Theater chain AMC did a poll on Twitter to see if fans would want a Cocaine Shark or Cocaine Bear movie. There could only be just one.

The bear won. It didn’t stop Banks from talking about the possibility of Cocaine Shark.
“I would seriously consider anything with a script as good as the script was for Cocaine Bear,” Elizabeth also added about the possibility when speaking to EW. “It’s got to have just some great elements.”
Never really wanted either, but again, here we are.
“I would never want to be compared to Jaws, that’s a classic that I don’t ever want to be compared to,” she also added. “So if it were differentiated enough, then anything’s possible.”
Whatever she does, she does. We love her.
Cocaine Bear is in theaters February 24th. While this writer will pass on the movie, I can not wait to hear what everyone thinks.
