Love is Blind season 4 tests what it means to fall in love…again. Do looks, money, and other things matter when it comes to matters of the heart? Or can you fall in love with someone sight unseen? Again, we are watching a bunch of hopefuls navigate these questions in season 4 of the series. And since we can’t control selves (as evidenced by our season 3 breakdowns), here is our breakdown of the first 5 episodes of season 4!
1. How does this season compare to the last 3 and the spinoffs?
Lizzie: More mess, so that’s good? We kinda watch a little bit for the drama. But I also feel like, at times, this season has had too much drama. Sell me on some love, too! They still got time to do it, but I feel like this might end up being fun to watch and maybe discuss right away and then I will never think about it again.
Lyra: Honestly, I’ve never wanted everyone to fail so much in my life. During the other seasons, I wanted love to happen. I wanted to be proven wrong and all that jazz that love was truly blind. Basically, I wanted to believe in the message of the show. But after this shit show of fakery with a side of “did she really just say that?” I really can’t trust anyone. Well, except Tiffany and Brett. They are kind of sweet. But that’s it. I’m here for the drama.

2. Who is your favorite couple and why?
Lizzie: Brett and Tiffany. I didn’t think they would be after she fell asleep on the man, but it was all smooth sailing from there, and they feel like the most genuine and compatible couple in the show. If you asked me to choose one couple I think would not just last, but make each other better, I’d choose them.
Lyra: While the simple answer would be Brett and Tiffany…I’ve got to say the men. I’m not talking about Paul and Zack. They’re basic and don’t care for anything besides their love interest. I’m talking about Marshall, Brett, and Kwame. Sure, I want all the couples to fail, but I want the blossoming friendship between these 3 men to continue into something that lasts beyond this show. Watching them lean on each other, in a situation where only a select group of people can truly understand, is refreshing. In a way, it reminds me of how much I cheered for the women of season 3 to thrive instead of worrying about who they’ll walk down the aisle with.

3. Which person do you roll your eyes at when they appear on screen?
Lizzie: Irina. Irina. Irina. I don’t know that I’ve been as annoyed with someone on reality tv as I was with her after watching the first five episodes, and like ….Bartise exists. Shayne exists. Jessica exists. It was a high bar to clear, and she did so, easily. Like, I know coming into a show like this one has to be about you, but she made things about her in a mean, petty way. And she even tried to go after her friend’s fiance! What’s your line, Irina? Do you have one?
Lyra: Lizzie has Irina covered so I’m going to say, Micah. She tries to act like she’s all for being Chelsea’s friend. Or anyone’s friend to be completely honest. But at every turn with Irina, she laughed at other contestants and treated their love story like it was garbage or secondary to her. I don’t like the vibe. I do enjoy the messiness. Who doesn’t? But in a real-life situation, this is the person to watch out for. Because Micah will smile to your face while two seconds ago laughing behind your back.

4. Who is your least favorite couple and why?
Lizzie: Can I say Zack and Irina even though that’s over? From the beginning, they had zero chemistry. Nothing, nada. But I don’t like Micah and Paul, either. They give me ok vibes, which isn’t all that great. There’s nothing about them that screams “made the right decision.” Plus, Micah’s friends don’t seem sure!
Lyra: My least favorite couple is a tie between Zack and Irina and Micah and Paul. There is no chemistry besides surface-level stuff. And there’s no doubt that Irina and Micah would turn on each other at the drop of a dime. I guess Marshall and Jackie are ok. But again, with the more episodes that pass by, the less I care for them too. Dang it. It’s just Brett and Tiffany who seem genuine and who I hope have zero drama.

5. Who is the messiest person or couple?
Lizzie: Irina, by FAR. Okay, maybe not that far, because Micah is right there with her, celebrating the same stuff. Does everyone remember when Jessica was the bad guy of Love is Blind season 1? She seems tame next to these two. Jessica was mostly messy in regards to her own relationship and, of course, Barnett, because she thought they should have ended up together. But Irina and Micah have been messy all around. The way they talk about everyone else! The mean girls vibes are strong in these ones.
That, ofc, means that the couples they make up (made up in the case of Zack and Irina?) are messy, but also — Jackie and Marshall seem a bit not on the same page, with a possibility of mess. Also, Bliss, if you going to give Zack a chance …that’s messy. I don’t know that I’d trust him. MESS ALL AROUND, I swear.
Lyra: The messiest person of season 4 is undoubtedly Irina. She snuck around listening to conversations, laughed at other people’s pain, and seriously did not understand this experiment at all. Seriously thought there could be no one worse than Bartise from season 3. Or Shake from season 2. I was wrong. Irina is a mean girl who uses her past as a shield to excuse her behavior. And for those that think she got a bad cut, I saw the laughing. I saw the sneaking around. And I saw the disregard for this show and the process despite her signing up for it and knowing what was coming.

Love is Blind season 4 episodes 1-5 are available on Netflix.
