Maestro looks like the kind of movie that is going to get someone an Oscar from the very first scene of the teaser trailer.
Based on real cultural icons Leonard Bernstein and Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein, it tells the story of the complex love that they held for each other. Switching back and forth between black and white, you get to see Leonard and Felicia handle being friends, partners, and family even though Leonard was absolutely and unapologetically gay.
And it’s all being told through a complex lens of wanting a family, career, life, and future in a world that will not accept you for who you truly are. But nevertheless, they both persevered and it’ll be interesting to see how Bradley Cooper and Carey Mulligan bring these characters to life.
Read the synopsis here: Maestro is a towering and fearless love story chronicling the lifelong relationship between cultural icon Leonard Bernstein and Felicia Montealegre Cohn Bernstein. A love letter to life and art, Maestro, at its core, is an emotionally epic portrayal of family and love.
