It’s not often that you conduct an interview and you can’t concentrate. It’s not because the people you are interviewing are boring you. They are great. It’s because you see this cute little puppy emerging from behind a chair, looking at you, and wondering if you’re done yet.
You don’t have the heart to tell the puppy that you aren’t. But you’re also wondering if it is the lighting or if it’s the dog – but how is their coat so white.
And yet you know that you are speaking to two very talented men, who really, are a treat to speak to. The men are a creative force and you’ve seen so many of their projects. Tate Taylor and John Norris are a duo that can captivate you with their words, but also with their movies.
They’re behind Palm Royale, but we definitely appreciate the creativity that these two have. That and their obvious joy about bringing Palm Royale to life.
If you haven’t watched Palm Royale yet, it’s the story of Maxine Simmons, who, “in 1969, an ambitious woman aspires to cross the line between the haves and have-nots to secure her seat at America’s most exclusive, fashionable and treacherous table: Palm Beach high society.”
Palm Beach society is lead by four fantastic actresses, played by Allison Janney, Julia Duffy, Leslie Bibb, and Claudia Ferri. Maxine, the outsider who just wants to be accepted, is played by Kristen Wiig. The story is built on secrets, truths, lies, and drama. It’s a place where the secrets that people keep are currency.
Television shows, because Palm Royale definitely does captivate you. But why was it the time for a story like this?
Taylor said, “As you may have noticed, our country is a little divided right now. I think, in a satirical way, to show what that can look like at the heights of wealth in a very exclusive community is just what the doctor ordered as far as a show for people to watch right now.”
“We need to escape, see audacious scenes. As you said, there’s still heart and truth to what’s going on. So much of what’s on television today in these times are just their work. It’s heavy. You’re worn out at the end of the show. I think with this show, with this great cast of women, like you said, you just can’t wait to see the next one. We need more of that. That’s what Palm Beach 1969 is going to do.” he continued.
Palm Beach is definitely going to do just that. See the interview below –
