Two teenage boys must escape a violent entity that takes the form of the person they desire the most in NEON’s upcoming queer horror film Leviticus. Plot twist is, what they desire the most is each other. And the official trailer is terrifying.
Part romance, part horror, Leviticus is the directorial debut of Adrian Chiarella (Black Lips). And in the official trailer you can see Joe Bird’s (Talk to Me) Naim having an almost cosmic spark with Stacy Clausen’s (Elvis) Ryan. Naim moved to this “shit hole” of a town in Australia. And as much as he says there’s nothing to like, he likes Ryan. And Ryan returns the sentiment, both of them spending as much time as they can with each other as their desire grows.

This is where the official trailer turns horrifying. Because the movie uses the fact that LGBTQ+ people often feel demonized to create a monster that comes for both teenagers. And we see both boys battle their feelings, the church, and conversion therapy, that this demonization takes their shape. Naim desires Stacy, so that’s what the monsters wears to get close to Naim. The same with Stacy.
As the trailer goes on you see Naim and Stacy continue to fight for each other, despite the horror. Because they might be scared of this monster born out of their nightmares. But what they fear more is the other getting hurt. And that right there shows you that their love and connection might be stronger than whatever is trying to kiss them with the face of the one they desire most before trying to kill them.
