At long last Supergirl‘s fate has been sealed.
On Thursday, the freshman drama was renewed for a second season, but it will be switching networks moving from CBS to The CW, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Also according to the report, it’s likely that Supergirl‘s production will be moving from Los Angeles to Vancouver, where fellow CW superhero shows Arrow, The Flash, and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow film.
Supergirl‘s nearly $3 million price tag per episode was part of the problem for CBS as the show didn’t do as well as they’d had hoped following a phenomenal series debut. Now with its move to The CW, the production budget should be significantly reduced to accommodate its new home.
With Supergirl making the move to The CW, this likely means more crossovers with other CW DC shows, including Arrow, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, and of course The Flash, which made an appearance on CBS this season during an epic crossover episode that was one of the season’s highest-rated episodes.
Stay tuned for more as it develops. The CW’s network Upfront will be held next Thursday in New York City.
