Wynonna Earp’s “Holy War: Part Two” gave us the Wayhaught that our hearts deserved while proving once again how much of a hero our leading lady is. And yes, I still consider her a hero after what she did at the end there. But that’s for later. For now, let’s talk about what you came here for and what I can’t wait to gush about: the love between Waverly Earp and Nicole Haught!
Can We Talk About Wayhaught?

First of all, the proposal in “Holy War: Part Two.” Yes, we’re going to start at the end and go backwards. It was beautiful and everything that we’ve ever dreamed of when it comes to a Wayhaught proposal. Like seriously, sheer perfection. And I was waiting for something to happen; something cruel and unkind that would throw the ones we love into even more peril.
Hell, I was waiting for Eve to knock down the door just as they were about to kiss, say yes, and be as happy as we were. But nothing happened. Zero. Zilch. And I love Emily Andras even more for this. TV has taught us to look at happy moments with a firm dose of skepticism, because the bad guys always interrupt. And that isn’t how life goes. Sometimes we just have happy moments that change our lives, and we can enjoy them to our hearts content.
And that’s what happened with Wayhaught.
They had their moment. It was grand. No big bad or random ass bullet from God only knows where, interrupted them. And I don’t know about you but it was game changing for me, as a queer person. I can have these moments, these sweet and life changing moments, where everything goes right. Because if Wayhaught can have them, and if we learn from the content we consume, so can I.
And I can’t even imagine how life changing this moment is to people who have never ever seen themselves on screen. Seeing Waverly propose to Nicole, seeing Nicole say yes, seeing Nicole kiss Waverly; it feels like a dream. But it isn’t. It’s reality and oh is it sweet. So, thank you Emily Andras, Dominique Provost-Chalkley, and Kat Barrell. You have gifted us with something grand, something game changing, that made our hearts grow three sizes.
That’s with us not even talking about the rest of the Wayhaught goodness in this episode.
Waverly was willing to kiss every single frog that came her way if it meant getting Nicole back. And Nicole, ghost babe that she is, totally appreciated that, even if she was a little grossed out, as we all would be. That’s dedication, that’s love, that’s doing whatever you have to do to get your boo back. And Waverly was willing to do that and more if it meant getting Nicole back into her body and out of that curse.
She even killed someone for Nicole.
Our sweet, kind, and badass Waverly Earp used her powers to kill the Clanton matriarch. She doesn’t understand her powers yet. Barely knows how to control them. But when she needs them, they are there. And they were there when Waverly needed them to save Nicole. Because of this, because of Waverly’s strength, they got Nicole back. And I couldn’t be happier than I am right now.
Wynonna Earp is a Certified Hero

Wynonna calling herself a hero in “Holy War: Part Two” made me look back and reflect on how far she’s come. Think back to episode one Wynonna. That woman, well she had nothing. She had no home. She had no friends. Hell, she barely had Waverly. And throughout seasons we have watched her gain every single one of these things. Wynonna has a home now, has friends, and has a strong ass bond with Waverly that can’t be defeated.
And I don’t know about you, but I’m immensely proud of Wynonna. She’s gone through so much shit, she’s faced so many challenges, and she keeps pushing forward for the ones she loves and for herself. Because like Wynonna said, she’s the hero; of this story, of this town, and of this family. And she will do what has to be done to protect those she loves.
That’s why I’m not even mad that she shot that Clanton fellow who I will always see as Benny from Supernatural. He was a loose end. And maybe I’ve been watching too much 12 Monkeys, but like Deacon says on that show, leave someone alive and you make an enemy. And that’s what Wynonna was doing, guaranteeing that that enemy wouldn’t come after her, her family, or her child.
Then there’s the Rosita of it all. I expected a fight to go down between these two. I mean, Rosita did try to steal her baby. I’d be mad too. And watching them work together, watching Wynonna give Rosita another chance when she realized the woman was just trying to survive, well, it made me even prouder of Wynonna and how far she’s come.
Wynonna is everything I wish I had in me and more. She’s the bravery that keeps this family together. She’s the bite that keeps the bad guys away because they know she’ll come after them with the fury of a thousand suns. She’s the love that grounds this story and journey as Wynonna Earp. And for that, I’m grateful for every complicated, badass, piece of Wynonna.
Where Do We Go Now?

I know where Wayhaught is going. There’s no doubt about that, especially because I trust Emily Andras to the moon and back. They’re going to face challenges but come out stronger for it, while giving us quality Wayhaught moments that will leave us changed forever. I just feel it in my bones and will hold onto this until Wynonna Earp returns in 2021.
I’m more concerned about Wyndoc. Now that has me worried, anxious, and a whole buck load of other feelings that leave me sad and a little depressed for them. In Doc’s eyes, Wynonna did something unacceptable. He lives by a code. It’s what keeps him grounded and what makes him the man he is today. Seeing the woman he loves breaking that code, that hurts and makes him question who she is and who he is with her.
Their journey back to each other will be a long one, especially because Wynonna will never apologize for protecting her family, even if it was a preemptive measure on her part. And Doc, well he’s going to reassess what’s important to him and what he’s willing to do to protect him family, his friends, and the daughter that he shares with Wynonna.
And it’s not going to be easy. There will be push, there will be pull, but at the end of the day I think they’ll find their way back to each other. Why? It’s not because there’s no other love interest. It’s because I think they’re destined for each other and because they bring out the best in each other. Right now, they’re in a rough spot. But they will make it through this.
For each other.
For Alice.
And for the rest of their family.
Wynonna Earp will return to SYFY in 2021.
