Dear Evan Hansen is a masterpiece, and that is a hill that I will die on. The Broadway play is just absolutely beautiful and I personally can’t wait to see what they do with the movie.
Speaking of the movie, we know we’re going to have a lot of feelings, and we’re good with that. Especially with the cast.
One of the latest to be added to the cast is Danny Pino, who we know from Cold Case and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. The actor will be playing a role that has been reconceived from the Broadway show.
If you aren’t familiar with the premise, Dear Evan Hansen revolves around, “Evan Hansen, a high schooler with social anxiety. He unintentionally gets caught up in a lie after the family of a classmate who committed suicide mistakes one of Hansen’s letters for their son’s suicide note.”
Danny will be playing the stepfather of the student who commits suicide. In the Broadway show, the student who commits suicide, Connor, has a father, not a stepfather.
We’re interested in the reason for the reimagining.
Amy Adams will be playing the mother of the student.
Ben Platt, Kaitlyn Dever, Colton Ryan, Amandla Stenberg, and Nik Dodani are also starring in the movie version of the Tony award winning musical.
Is this a movie that you want to see?
