One of the first books that made me fall in love with reading was Rebecca Serle‘s, When You Were Mine. The author is a wordsmith, making words flow like poetry or the song that you can’t stop singing.
The book has been adapted to film with Kaitlyn Dever set to star as Rosaline, Kyle Allen set to star as Romeo, Sean Teale as Dario, and Isabella Merced as Rosaline (among many other talented actors). When You Were Mine (the adaptation is entitled Rosaline), it’s the story of Romeo and Juliet told from Rosaline’s point of view. Only Rosaline is Romeo’s ex, and what starts out with her wanting to win back her ex, becomes about Rosaline’s growth and self discovery and changes to her wanting to get the star-crossed lovers back together.
The books film adaptation has wrapped filming and for me, that’s excitement. The movie has been filming in Italy. Star Kaitlyn Dever posted about the wrap on her Instagram.
“#rosaline fam forever ❤️ I love these people, a lot. That’s a wrap!” she captioned the post.
Rosaline was originally at MGM, but when it hit the market 20th Century scooped it up. Scott Neustadter & Michael H. Weber penned the script for the adaptation.
Have you read When You Were Mine? If not be sure to pick it up and read it. It’s a great book. And we’re off to wait for a release date.
