Life is really fucking complicated, but that’s why you have to do your best to keep complications to a minimum and keep complications apart. There is no way in hell that I would let parts of my life meet other parts of life. Complicated is not something that I particularly like to do.
But Emily seems to go for the complicated. She’s either lying with her words or lying by omission. Cami seems to like to make things complicated by manipulating situations rather than taking responsibility for things that she’s done.
But the most complicated thing – well, that would be letting the people that you are lying to be around each other. Complicated would be the two men that you like getting to know each other and the “friend” (I use that term loosely) manipulating the situation.
Gabriel and Alfie are playing soccer together. Cami and Emily are watching the two of them play and acting like nothing has ever happened. But everything has happened and as we’re almost to the end of the season, we know everything is going to have to come out.
Alfie runs up on Emily and Cami, who are talking to Gabriel. He calls them girlfriends, and they correct him, letting him know that they are all just friends. It’s kind of interesting to see them all lie together at the same time.
But again, it’s Cami frustrating me right here. Why? Cause she’s manipulating the situation again and keeps reminding Gabriel of their time together. Emily’s face saying it all, and Cami making sure to turn her back to her, as if it’s a subtle point – she’s not keeping with the pact.
I am not sure why they all don’t realize that all the secrets and lies are going to blow up.
Alfie and Emily leave and she asks him out that night. I’m choosing to focus on that versus Alfie being like, I can see why you love Paris now. Why? Because she watched soccer? Because of Gabriel and Cami? Why is it Alfie? The thing is when it comes to Alfie, that damn jawline and that fucking accent will get us to do anything. So part of us understands that.
The only person that seems to be in a really good place with their relationship is Mindy and Benoit. We love to see it, because Mindy has been through a lot. That being said though, Mindy is playing the same game – keeping secrets about who she is. And that is about to blow up because Etienne told his friend in Shanghai that Mindy was singing with them and his friend is a journalist. And now everyone knows.
Mindy is really upset and embarrassed. And then when Benoit finds out and feels like she’s lied to him the whole time that’s a whole other level of feeling betrayed. Rather than talk about it – Mindy runs away.
Eteinne feels bad, as he should and sends Mindy the song that Benoit wrote for her and she’s crying her eyes out. I feel you Mindy, we’ve all been at the crying stage.
Meanwhile, Madeline has made her way to France. This can’t and won’t end well. Madeline and Sylvie are too different and Sylvie is not thrilled she is there. Madeline is very American and that’s a put off to everyone in Paris. But I have to admit that I find this Madeline to be very different than the Madeline that we saw in the first season. Kinda just way too different for me to believe in this version. Pregnancy doesn’t make this kind of change.
The way that they have her in dressed makes her seem like she’s not this executive, but as if they are trying to portray her in a way that makes her station seem less than. I don’t know, I just don’t like it.
I don’t believe in it.
And so we’re going to get to the big issue of the episode on the work side. So Madeline is in shock that Antoine’s company, Maison Laveaux, has been a longtime client and they have never paid Savior what they are worth. Sylvie says that they have had a long standing agreement.
But Madeline says that she’ll have the conversation with Antoine.
I don’t like that Madeline is going into this conversation without all of the details. And what she’s about to find out is that Sylvie was having an affair with Antoine and that her bringing up the change in price makes it seem like that’s retaliation. I mean if we’re being honest, Antoine’s wife is pretty smart.
She waited to serve revenge and yes, it’s a dish best served cold, but she served that shit up hot – ready to fry Sylvie for all the shit she’s done. I applaud her. Like I love Sylvie, but also – way to wait for the perfect time Antoine’s wife.
Madeline knows there is an issue and tells Emily. Emily wants to give the benefit of the doubt, but that is something that I don’t think Madeline is going to do.
Madeline and Sylvie may not get along, but I do believe that their drama is going to hurt Emily and that scares me.
Because Emily can’t be everything to everyone and so I am wondering how she’s gonna play this out.
And as if Emily doesn’t have enough on her shoulder, Luc doesn’t think about what he’s saying and spills to Alfie that Emily and Gabriel had a thing. When Luc realizes he should have shut his mouth, he starts acting like he can’t speak English.
But what it does bring is a moment between Alfie and Emily, where she has to tell the truth. And I mean, we’ve been waiting for that. She says that it meant nothing, it was over before it started. And no, we don’t believe that is true. But I do believe that is what Emily thinks is the truth right now.
Alfie says that’s good, because he likes her. He wants to be with her.
Shit got so complicated and with one episode left, it’s about to get worse.
Emily In Paris is streaming now on Netflix.
