Another Tuesday and another episode of us staring at Forrester and Kellett, wondering when these two are just gonna make us all happy and find their way to each other.
Lets face it – Kellett has a lot of issues that we’re learning about and the she’s open to no one about. But that’s what scares us – because when you can’t be honest with those closest to you, including yourself, you’re in for nothing but trouble.
And over the season, we’re grown to really love Kellett and Forrester together. Bringing out the best in each other.

That’s what we all should have. Even Kellett who seems to want to run from happiness.
This weeks episode, Chew Toy, was about, “When an NYPD officer is detained in Transnistria for aggravated assault, the Fly Team investigates his claims of infiltrating a sex trafficking ring being concealed by those in power. Also, Forrester receives an unusual message from an unknown sender.”
Lets break it down.
Not going to lie, I had never heard of Transnistria. I was like oooh, we’re doing the holiday movie thing here and making up countries. I can get down. But it is a real place.
So there went my sarcasm out the window, and me knowing that I need to behave.
The team heads to Transnistria, because an NYPD detective has been arrested. He lives there, as the NYPD has officers throughout the world to report on terror threats.
Douglas’ work takes him a few hours a day. He had become involved in another case though, one that he hadn’t really reported back to his command in New York. There was a girl he met at the bar, who had told him that she was being trafficked and needed to buy her way out of the situation, otherwise she would end up in New York and forced into a life she didn’t want.

There is something that you should know – Douglas’ wife died in 9/11. She was pregnant. He survivors guilt has embattled his mind and made him feel less than and left him feeling as though he needed to save someone.
And that came in the girl who he was looking for. The girl that looks just like his wife who passed.
The team is trying to help him, but Forrester feels as though he’s being lied to. He wants information, and Douglas is sticking to his story. He tells them to go to his apartment and get his laptop. It has all of the information on there.
One thing that I do have to say is that Kellett and Forrester working together is a lot calmer than I thought it would be. The two may not be together romantically, but that love is still there. And he listens to her, moves with her, remembers with her. Their relationship is complicated, but they are both aware of that.
When they go to get the laptop, a police officer is there, and says that it hasn’t been found and the apartment has been searched. The team knew that the local officer was lying, but the thing about the fly team is that they know when to use that. They also know when to keep quiet.

The man that Doulgas shot dies and so he gets transferred to prison. I feel bad for the man, because he wants to save people and I wonder how he went so long without getting the help that he needed. He’s obviously still grieving and it’s made it difficult for him to move forward.
But he really does need that win – that feeling that he was able to save someone. The team sees that, but they also see that they have a case, one that involves NY. Jubel tells them they will have to solve from their side and no shocker here, they do.
Personally, for me, the case was important because it helped people, but also it reminds us that there are people who want to do the right thing and people who don’t know how to do the right thing. I say that because the officers that were in the country all seemed to be corrupt and afraid of going against criminals. That all being said though, they did end up doing the right thing and helping the FBI.
Oh and the girl that Douglas was so intent on saving was a liar, telling him what he wanted to hear, and getting money from him. I wanted to jump through the screen and bitch slap her. YOU DON’T FUCK WITH PEOPLES EMOTIONS!
But what was also important about this episode is that before the team took off to the case, Forrester got an email, where there was a picture of him as a child and the subject line was a street he grew up on.
He had some ideas about who it could be from, but he wasn’t sure. However, when Gaines tells him that it had tracking malware in it, he knows. He doesn’t say it, but you can tell that he knows that it was his Mom.
He doesn’t change out the phone, says they can do it back in Budapest. He keeps looking at the phone, and waiting. When Gaines tells him that the tracking is coming from Moscow, he knows.

We’ve all known that there would be a time where his Mama made an appearance. She is central to something – we can feel it. But it’s also important for Forrester to grow to face his Mom. And I think that it says something that he doesn’t want to change out the phone. He wants to see his Mom.
His Mom has done some shitty things, but she’s still his Mom. He still loves her. He still deserves answers.
And when she walks up behind him and says his name, seeing him turn and face her. Our hearts (meaning mine – both my cold and my melted heart) skipped a beat.
And then when he said, ‘Hi Mom’, I legitimately fell off my chair.
How the fuck are we all supposed to wait for that reunion?
