Fate: The Winx Saga 2×06 “Poor Unfortunate Souls” marks the beginning of the end of a season that is a roller coaster of emotions. In this episode, Rivusa is up to their old tricks as Bellatrix makes a heartbreaking decision and Stella confronts her mother. And that’s not all, Bloom’s fate hangs in the balance…and an iconic character returns to give her just what she needs. Ready?
Here we go!
Remorse

Fate: The Winx Saga 2×06 “Poor Unfortunate Souls” begins shortly after the end of the previous episode. Silva goes to work to control the damage while Bloom is in shock. She doesn’t even remember how it happened, she just knows that one moment she was pinned down by Rosalind and the next Rosalind was dead.
And guilt becomes present for Bloom. As we discussed in the previous review, Bloom is not a murderer and as much as Rosalind deserved it, Bloom feels guilty about what happened.
However, in Fate: The Winx Saga 2×06 “Poor Unfortunate Souls” Queen Luna has already decided to condemn Bloom no matter what. But she didn’t expect to face her daughter. Stella is determined to defend Bloom and clearly position herself against her mother.
This is tremendously important. Stella had never confronted her mother so directly, she was rebellious on different occasions but never like this, among other things, because she knew what that would mean. But Stella is no longer the same as we knew. Stella now has people who love her for who she is, not for her privileges, and they come first. We’re very proud of her.
Pantomime Trial

The trial is a pantomime. The sentence was already decided and it shows. Aisha also stands up for Bloom and uses the power of her family to try and pressure the Queen, though the strategy doesn’t work.
Stella, for her part, prepares Bloom’s defense very well but Luna is prepared for that and uses the words of her letter against her. Luna knows perfectly well that Stella only wrote those words to win her favor, but she doesn’t care about getting Bloom condemned.
Bloom, meanwhile, opens up to Queen Luna in Fate: The Winx Saga 2×06 “Poor Unfortunate Souls.” She feels guilty, despite everyone telling her that she is not because she knows that at first she was only defending herself from Rosalind’s attack but later she wanted to kill her. She lost control and blames herself for it. Bloom believes that Luna is not so far from reality in considering her dangerous.
In the end, Bloom’s sentence is as cruel as Queen Moon but Bloom accepts it with resignation. She almost welcomes her condemnation because she thinks she deserves it.
She was able to let Rosalind go and decided not to… so Bloom feels that if she is locked up for twenty years in limbo she won’t be able to hurt anyone else. And she couldn’t be more wrong. I understand what Bloom feels and why she feels it but she just has to learn to trust herself again, her instinct, Bloom just has to learn to trust her power and keep in mind why she does what she does.
Sky finds out about Bloom’s sentence from Silva…but it’s already too late. He was with her that morning and he knew that Bloom was afraid of hurting him. He knows that Bloom is afraid of not being able to control herself and hurt those she loves.
So he tried to make her see that she would never do it, but he didn’t imagine that he would not see her again never and that would be it. He didn’t imagine that she would give up. So he tries to get to her again, and fight for both of them, but it’s too late. And my eyes are filled with tears for Skloom.
Stella Growth

On the other hand, in Fate: The Winx Saga 2×06 “Poor Unfortunate Souls” Stella must accept that her mother won this battle but makes it clear that she is not going to give up. Luna thought that, as always, Stella would lower her head at her display of power, but she was wrong. Stella makes it clear that this time she does have something to fight for and she doesn’t care if Luna decides to take away her privileges, her friends come first.
Until now, Stella hadn’t had any real friends so she survived long enough to at least not fall out of favor with her mother. She wasn’t even for the privileges themselves, but not to lose the only thing she had. But now she doesn’t need to. Stella has her friends by her side who love her for who she is and who would give everything for her. Now she is no longer alone. And I have to admit that this makes me feel proud and emotional. That’s my queen!
Stellatrix and Their Crossed Fates

Bellatrix is someone who, as we have commented on several occasions, shares many experiences with Stella, so there is a mutual understanding between them that the rest don’t understand. Stellatrix is one of the best of the show and Fate: The Winx Saga 2×06 “Poor Unfortunate Souls” is no exception. Stella believes in Bellatrix and trusts her to the point of defending her when Winx doubts her.
Stella knows that Bellatrix made bad decisions but she understands why she did it and Bellatrix is trying, so she hopes that the Winx will give her a chance and Bellatrix can feel that she is not alone anymore, just like she did.
And the truth is that Stella is right. Bellatrix helps Bloom in any way she can. That’s why her decision to ally with Sebastian hurts the most.
This betrayal hurt me a lot the first time I saw it and it still hurts. Looking at it coldly, Bellatrix already told Stella that she would do whatever she had to do to survive. So the question is, what does Bellatrix crave that she believes only Sebastian can give her?
Disappointments and Tips

While this is happening, Terra and Flora search for Farah’s corpse to help Bloom… but in Fate: The Winx Saga 2×06 “Poor Unfortunate Souls” both find more than they are looking for. Terra encounters her first love disappointment. It’s the first time that she dares to ask someone she really wants to be on a date with but Kat is already back with her ex. I don’t understand why, since it’s clear that Terra likes her and you can’t be in a relationship if you like someone else but ok, I guess…
Terra has no time to mourn, as time is running out. And, although all seems lost, Flora doesn’t give up and she manages to save the day, bringing Farah back just long enough to give the Winx the push they need to fight.
The most special moment occurs between Farah and Bloom. She feels guilty about so many things… and many of them concern the woman in front of her. Bloom knows that by not trusting her and listening to her, she made a mess. Bloom let her down then…and she’s afraid she’s done it again.
She never had a mother to guide her with her powers and what it means to be a fairy, she barely remembers her real mother, so Farah was that to her. And that’s why she’s the only one who can make Bloom feel better.
The Dragon Flame is powerful, yes, but it is Bloom who controls it. She must trust her instinct, her heart. Her power serves to destroy, but also to help create something new, something better. Not a world Rosalind’s way, but a world where the people Bloom loves are safe.
We all have light and darkness within us, the powers of the fairies feed on both parts but the powers, like people, are not intrinsically good or bad, it all depends on the purpose for which you use them.
The only way that Bloom will not go wrong is to follow her heart, is to use her powers for the good of the people she cares about. Her good heart is the only guarantee she needs. And this is the best way Farah could say goodbye, giving Bloom the peace she needs. Raise your hand if you are sobbing with the scene and the final hug between these two!
When Trust is Broken…

Aisha was very disappointed with Grey in Fate: The Winx Saga 2×06 “Poor Unfortunate Souls.” The predictions of the previous episode come true and it’s revealed that Grey working with Sebastian, which is why Grey was the mole that Rosalind was looking for so much. And Aisha tried to talk to him. She felt so guilty about letting herself go in the previous episode…but in this episode, she felt calmer and determined not to give up on Grey…and he’s the one who ends up giving her up.
The moment where Queen Luna humiliates Aisha by making her feel stupid for trusting him was heartbreaking. But what broke me was the scene where Aisha desperately tries to get Grey to tell her that Queen Luna’s accusations are false…and he can’t. Aisha is bewildered and heartbroken. You can see the moment when her heart breaks and her voice cracks.
Aisha never allowed herself to stray from her plan or trust the people around her too much, but she allowed all of that with Grey. She, for the first time in her life, let go, and took a leap of faith and trust, showing a vulnerability and strength that she had never allowed herself to feel only for Grey to break all her trust. Aisha doesn’t deserve this.
And although Grey seems to have doubts, I will never forgive him for his betrayal. I honestly think that Grey ended up falling in love with Aisha but, when it comes down to it, he didn’t love her enough to choose her and trust her as blindly as Aisha trusted him, so he doesn’t deserve her.
Rivusa is Here to Stay

Rivusa continues to develop in Fate: The Winx Saga 2×06 “Poor Unfortunate Souls.” Following the loss of her powers, Musa continues to try to integrate with the Specialists. As in the previous episode, Riven doesn’t shy away from her by making it clear that he doesn’t want her there. And I still think Riven isn’t being a dickhead this time, but he’s being pretty decent.
His words are harsh and hurt but they are meant to make Musa react. Sometimes, we need someone to tell us the truths point-blank and without sugarcoating them to react. It’s just what Riven is doing.
Specialists, just like fairies, train for years, and Musa can’t pick up a weapon and pretend she’s ready to face the same situations they do. She can endanger others and herself. It doesn’t mean that Musa can’t do it, it means that she isn’t ready, and pretending that she isn’t a good thing. Especially if Musa is only doing this to repress an intrinsic part of herself.
Musa can learn to defend herself without her powers just for the hell of it, but trying to pretend a part of her doesn’t exist isn’t healthy. Although honestly, my ghost is writing this review, I died the moment I saw Rivusa train together.
Fate: The Winx Saga season 2 is available to stream on Netflix and we’ll be back with episode 7, the last of the season, review tomorrow.
