After waiting so long, it’s time to review Fate: The Winx Saga 2×01 “Low-Flying Panic Attack!” It’s an episode that channels the main strengths of the season while introducing new characters that loom large to the plot, albeit repeating some mistakes that should be finished. Ready?
Here we go!
Preparing for War…and Remorse

Fate: The Winx Saga episode 1 “Low-Flying Panic Attack” introduces a new threat from the start. Someone is killing and stealing the magic of fairies. How could it be otherwise, Rosalind seems involved in this, but in what way?
She seems to have some sort of laboratory in which Alfea’s students are her guinea pigs. Is she the one who is stealing the magic from the fairies? The only thing that seems certain is that now that a student has managed to escape, Rosalind’s secrets will begin to be revealed.
Rosalind is trying to prepare her students, especially Bloom, for war. Will this war have something to do with the stolen magic? It seems so… What is clear is that Bloom is determined not only to overthrow Rosalind but to find Farah and rescue Saul.
This Bloom is not the same as the one we met in season 1. In Fate: The Winx Saga 2×01 “Low-Flying Panic Attack” she feels extremely guilty for what she did. She’s aware of her mistakes and is paying with tears of blood for them.
Farah’s disappearance and Silva’s fate are a consequence of her actions and she is very clear about that — it doesn’t help that her friends keep reminding her of it either — and she is willing to do whatever it takes to fix the mess that she propitiated. So this Bloom admits her mistakes…and is wracked with remorse.
Bloom no longer trusts her instincts and her better judgment. The last time she trusted them and didn’t listen to anyone, especially Aisha, was a mess, so now she tries to make Aisha make her decisions for her. Bloom tries to give up control.
For Bloom it makes sense, Aisha is the voice of reason and everything she warned her about ended up happening, but the point is that Aisha cannot be her moral reference, she can be her friend and advise her but she cannot be responsible for all Bloom’s decisions. It’s an unfair burden on her. Bloom must learn to trust her instincts again and decide for herself, but that won’t happen until she forgives herself for what happened.
The Winx United…Will Never Be Defeated

Saul’s rescue was AWESOME. I loved seeing the Winx using their powers in such a coordinated way in Fate: The Winx Saga 2×01 “Low-Flying Panic Attack.” They certainly make a great team. The only one who doesn’t know how to feel about this rescue is Sky.
A part of him still loves Saul like a father, while he sees Andreas as an outsider but another part of him, the part that thinks Saul isn’t worth it or refuses to talk to him, hates that he still cares.
Sky feels betrayed, Saul is the person he trusted the most, and now he knows that Saul was lying to him, Sky hates that he can’t help but continue to love him and feel that Andreas wouldn’t have been half as good a father to him as Saul was.
Sky doesn’t want anything bad to happen to Saul because, despite himself, Sky still cares about him. But he is not yet ready to listen, let alone forgive or understand. Sky needs time… and Saul will give it.
“Why Would I be Embarrassed to be Seen With Musa?”

“Why would I be embarrassed to be seen with Musa?“ I was referring to this type of comment in the review of the season. It’s incomprehensible that Terra’s friends treat her like this in Fate: The Winx Saga 2×01 “Low-Flying Panic Attack.” Stella was always cold and quite cruel with Terra but we are in season 2, they have been through a lot together and if they are calling each other friends these types of comments are unnecessary.
I don’t understand why the show has these lines in the script that are incongruous with everything they want to show us about the Winx coming together. Comments matter and words hurt, this must end now.
In any case, Stella is not at her best in Fate: The Winx Saga 2×01 “Low-Flying Panic Attack.” She’s trying to hold on to whatever remains of her old life. She could never count on her mother or her family but she could always count on Sky.
She can’t do it now…and it hurts. So Stella tries to hold on to what she knows. Sky was a very important person in her life, he always will be, and spying on him is not healthy but it’s… the only thing that feels right at the moment, to pretend that he is still by her side.
Her incredible new power helps her a lot with it, though Stella doesn’t have much time to use it before her mother and Rosalind do something as horrible to her as make her wear a device to control her. And from now on I refuse to call Queen Moon the mother of anyone, she is a monster.
I really understand Stella. She feels embarrassed and doesn’t want to tell the Winx. The best known for her is to be defensive, not vulnerable. So she prefers them to think that nothing happened than letting them see that side of her…because sometimes it’s harder to be vulnerable with the people we love, but pretending like this is going to destroy Stella from the inside out, she needs to talk with someone.
Stella and Bellatrix Works Perfectly in Fate: The Winx Saga 2×01: “Low-Flying Panic Attack”

And Stella does… although not with whom we expected. Bellatrix isn’t at her best either. Bellatrix thought that Rosalind would reward her for helping Rosalind take control of Alfea but to Rosalind, she is just another pawn. So she gets frustrated, pissed off, and disappointed.
Bellatrix always wanted answers so she could get her family back and she was willing to do anything to get them. Bellatrix thought that Rosalind would give her what she wanted so much but she is realizing that is not going to happen and Rosalind doesn’t even take her into account for important decisions.
Once Bellatrix served her purpose, Rosalind discarded her, so she needs a drink…just like Stella. This union is unlikely but it works in a way we love. Maybe this strange and reluctant bond with Stella makes Bellatrix make the right decision and realizes that she doesn’t have to carry all of her past alone.
Together…and Scrambled

In another order of things, Dane didn’t sit well with the time jump. In Fate: The Winx Saga 2×01 “Low-Flying Panic Attack” he shows more like a cocoon than ever. Dane showed his true face…and it was not pretty. We hate the way he treats Sky and how he takes pride in attacking someone from behind as only cowards would.
But most of all, we hate that he thinks he’s better than everyone else. I don’t even understand why he behaves like this and thinks he’s something special because of the toxic threesome he has with Riven and Bellatrix. The involution of this character is worthy of study. I just know that I screamed when Sky gave him what he deserved…and if Dane died I wouldn’t miss him.
But if Dane is a jerk, Riven — like Andreas — isn’t exactly far behind. The way he treats Terra annoys me quite a bit. To be honest, he’s a jerk to everyone but he seems to take some perverse pleasure in making fun of Terra and I want to break his mouth #sorrynotsorry. What I do like about him is that, for the first time since he met Bellatrix, he’s starting to think with his brain and realizing that what they’re doing and Rosalind’s orders are not right.
While Dane is a puppet in Rosalind’s hands, Riven begins to question his faith in her. The germ of doubt is already nesting in him and it seems a matter of time before he chooses the right side of things. Though to be honest, I was pretty disappointed that he hadn’t done it already after everything that happened in season 1.
Skloom and Their Paradise

Amid all this chaos, in Fate: The Winx Saga 2×01 “Low-Flying Panic Attack” Sky and Bloom find comfort in each other so…Skloom for the win! They feel at peace when they’re together and even though the world around them is falling apart, even though they are falling apart, together they feel the pieces coming back together. They’re cute but the problem is that they can’t leave the outside world out for too long.
Avoiding problems never solves anything and they’re trying to prevent the real world from disturbing the peace they feel in each other’s presence. But the reality is that they need to analyze what is going on in their lives.
Bloom’s guilt is overwhelming and Sky’s mixed feelings are drowning him. They can get through this together, but they need to break down the wall between them and the outside world. They both try to be there for each other…they just have to let each other help.
Hell is Full of Good Intentions…

Sam is another one who is not having his best moment in Fate: The Winx Saga 2×01 “Low-Flying Panic Attack.” Rosalind bosses her father around and he lowers his head, trying to survive so she doesn’t expel her children from Alfea. But all Sam wants is to see his father defend himself, he doesn’t understand his lackadaisical attitude towards Rosalind.
Sam respected his father, he admired him but now he only sees someone who gives in to the enemy. His father is doing this for Sam and Terra. He’s protecting them. It’s the right thing for him to do but Sam is too young for this conversation.
In an attempt to help Sam, Musa uses her powers on him without his knowledge. I understand Musa’s intentions, I really do, but this isn’t right. She’s manipulating Sam’s emotions without his consent and this crosses a lot of red lines. Trouble is brewing for this couple…
The happy note of Fate: The Winx Saga 2×01 “Low-Flying Panic Attack” is found in Aisha. She meets Grey, a boy with the same interests as her, and the attraction is noticeable at the first glance. The flirting is evident and Aisha’s reluctance too, even though she likes that boy. Will Aisha dare to meet him? Fingers crossed.
Fate: The Winx Saga season 2 is available to stream on Netflix and we’ll be back with the episode 2 review tomorrow.
