We know that there are a lot of mixed feelings about National Treasure: Edge of History. Some love it. Some hate it. We’re on the side of loving it. Why? Because to us, it’s not always so predictable. Instead it’s a more of an attempt at trying. This show makes sure that they keep you on your toes.
Which isn’t always easy.
We’re picking up right where we left off – Billie getting Jess away. She’s telling Jess everything that she thinks that she wants to hear – that she’s just like her and that she’s trying to protect the treasure. She’s gross, playing off Jess’s want to have a family and a connection to her father.
What she does is underestimate Jess. The truth about Jess is that a lot of people under estimate her. They don’t realize that she’s got this mind that can tear apart anything and she can see things that no one else can see. It’s kind of amazing and really just may be her super power.
But Jess is going along with everything that Billie is saying. She’s believing what Billie is saying, that she’s a Plumed Serpent’s Daughter also. They are talking about everything that Billie “knows” and how things would have been different had Billie known who Jess was.
Umm…
By this point I am irritated. I am mad. I am screaming at the television screen. I want to believe in Jess, but right now I am liking her as much as I like Ethan (and that’s not a lot). What the fuck is happening here that Jess is working with Billie?
Jess does her best at this point to push her friends away. She’s kind of ruthless about it. And by kind of, I mean really ruthless. She’s just so mean that I worry that she won’t be able to rebound from how mean she was to Tasha.
Tasha and Jess are the best of friends. And yes, when you’re BFF’s, you fight, but the depths that Jess went to felt CRUEL. I woulda slapped Jess, but this is Disney and we have to be kind.
What I do love about this is that Tasha goes to Oren, who in his wise wisdom, gets Tasha to understand that people fight, but you need to make up. And Tasha and Jess need each other. They need to make sure that they have each others backs, because they’d be broken if something happened and they weren’t there for each other.
Jess, is with Billie – which hey, I don’t like – and they end up talking. Billie and her minions are being so nice that I am terrified of them.
I have to admit I am also wondering what I am missing that Jess seems to be able to listen to them and believe in them. Aren’t we all in agreement that Billie is bad?
Billie shows her hand, which she feels that is going to gain Jess’s trust. Jess knows now that Billie has two of the three boxes. You can see the look in Jess’s eyes – this wonder if she’s closer to understanding her father.
She helps solve a clue. Billie has the journal and lets Jess see it. They aren’t finding any answers in there, but maybe Jess will. She notices that there are markings on the ribbon for the journal as well as some holes in pages. She’s able to distinguish that if you line the markings up, you’re going to be able to get the clue.
And the next clue leads them to The Alamo. You know, the one in Texas. Personally, don’t want to ever go to Texas, but that’s a different thing. You can tell when Jess uncovers the clue, Billie is excited. It involves them going in a well though, and though for most of us this would probably be when we tap out, for Jess, it’s not.
It’s when she manages to get all of the things she needs.
The boxes.
She tells Billie that nothing else is in the well and Billie insists on seeing for herself. It’s because of this she’s able to trap Billie in the well. While she makes a break for it – she doesn’t know that Tasha and Oren are there. And even in the argument that they had not stopped Tasha from being there.
The way that best friends should be there.
I feel bad that I had under estimated Jess, because she’s proven that she’s a good friend time and time again. So seeing her with Billie threw me off but also, I should have believed that she knew all of the lies and wasn’t falling for them.
Because this is Jess and that’s what she does. Sees the things that we don’t. She didn’t believe Billie, she played her.
And what Jess knows is that yes, the next clue leads to the Alamo, but not the one that they all expect. It’s the one in Mexico.
Which hey, I didn’t know existed and I doubt most did. But hey, isn’t that part of the greatness of this show, it gives us insight to things that we may not see or know about when it comes to history. Now, I just have to google if this is real.
Ethan, in the mean time has gone to visit his girlfriend and explain things. I want to believe that we can trust her, but I trust no one in this show. As a matter of fact, I live with so much doubt over everyone. I think the worst and that everyone is out for the treasure.
But he likes her. So there is that. A person should be allowed to love the person that they love. It’s this trip to the hospital that he finds that Liam is there.
We all know that Liam stole the journal. We all know that Billie has made claims that she bought the journal from Liam. And part of me was like okay, that asshole is not someone we can trust. But then again do we know enough about him to judge him? Do we know enough about him to pass judgement on who he is?
No. But Jess really likes him and I also think he’s not one that would dishonor his father and grandfather that way.
What I am not shocked to find out is that Sudosky’s nurse is one of Billie’s minions. He is able to frame Jess for murder of Sudosky.
Liam stole the journal because he didn’t have a choice. He had to get it before Billie did. He had to make sure that they had the upper hand. But he got his ass kicked and it was stolen from him. I believe him and you can see that Ethan does too.
Jess knows that in order to get the treasure she needs to go to Mexico, but that means that she can’t come back to the states. Not on DACA.
Everything is getting very complicated, but we’re here for it. We’re here for it all.
