Valentine’s Day may be over, but Ghosts 2×15, “A Date to Remember,” turns the romance all the way up. The show makes a far superior version of 50 First Dates and gives us a love story we can get behind. This episode is this lovable ensemble at its most unhinged, and it’s perfection. It also represents a turning point for the living residents of Woodstone Manor. All of these stories have been a long time coming.

Flower and Thor: A Viking Ship for the Ages
Florfinn has been the ship to cheer for on this show for quite some time. While this hasn’t been a slow burn a la SVU, this ship has taken its sweet time to launch. This episode is proof that it has all been worth the wait. This first date is a legendary one. We should all be so lucky to have Alberta (Danielle Pinnock) serenade our first dates.
Aside from all of the hilarity and sexiness that ensues, Flower (Sheila Carrasco) and Thor (Devan Chandler Long) are both given the chance to be incredibly vulnerable. Before they can truly be happy together, they need to confront their past traumas. They need to process the losses that they’ve both endured before they’re able to be fully present for one another.
This is a heartbreakingly beautiful way to further prove that these two are meant to be together. Beyond experiencing shared trauma, we get to see them experience shared healing. This episode doesn’t presume to say that their grief is resolved. It never will be. However, both of these characters have a real chance to move forward and make their afterlife a little bit brighter.

Sam and Jay Interrupted
Sometimes, the ghosts cause so much chaos, the living residents of Woodstone can get pushed to the background. Not so for Ghosts 2×15, “A Date to Remember”. Sam (Rose McIver) and Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) get to go on their own romantic adventure while helping Florfinn set sail. They both deserve so much credit for recognizing that they need to set some boundaries around their wild ghost children.
They are able to continue to strike the balance between participating in Pete’s (Richie Moriarty) improv routine, and recognizing that they need to make their own Valentine’s Day. We love such an adorable couple. Every time they’re allowed to be #couplesgoals, they steal the scene. Hopefully, this is the beginning of them deputizing Thor to guard the doors so that they can have some well-deserved alone time.

More Housemates, More Problems
Nigel’s (John Hartman) move to Woodstone has set off expected anarchy among the ghosts. This was always going to be at least a bit of an adjustment. Although Isaac (Brandon Scott Jones) is always among the pettiest of this ensemble, others get to lean into their inner messiness. It’s almost enough to revive Hetty (Rebecca Wisocky) and Trevor’s (Asher Grodman) situationship from the grave.
Nigel’s welcome tea is the venue for all of the ghosts to get in on the drama. Sasappis (Román Zaragoza) knows exactly who he is; he’s ready to welcome a new housemate while watching the ensuing drama unfold. In theory, all of the ghosts are ready to welcome Nigel with open arms. He’ll definitely fit right into this band of misfits. However, the ghosts are very set in their ways. Hopefully, Nigel will find his way in time.

The Beginning of a Beautiful Rivalry
As Lady of the House, Hetty has always been able to keep everyone else in line. She is the powerhouse behind everything that happens at Woodstone. Now, she’s met her match in Nigel. She isn’t ready to surrender her best friend Isaac so easily. This speaks so beautifully about their friendship. Nigel is also very protective of Isaac and wants to allow their love to flourish. Only time will tell if Hetty and Nigel will come together over their love of Isaac, or continue in their battle of wills.
Ghosts 2×15, “A Date to Remember,” is a tragically beautiful love story on so many levels. This is exactly the story fans need in this season of love. This show is a space for all types of love to flourish. In a season where so many feel alone, Woodstone remains a safe space to celebrate romance and friendship equally. As the season prepares for its final set of episodes, there’s still a lot of love left to give.
Other Spooky Thoughts:
- The fact that Flower went to law school is such a beautiful addition to her backstory. We stan a law-girlie-turned-hippie every day.
- The continued incorporation of the cholera ghosts is just delightful. Seriously, the more of them, the better.
- Jay and Pete could be such beautiful friends. The fact that they can’t see each other continues to be too devastating to think about for too long.
Ghosts airs Thursdays at 8:30/7:30c on CBS.
