This piece was written during the 2023 WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. Without the labor of the writers and actors currently on strike, tv shows and movies being covered in Fangirlish Feels of the Week wouldn’t exist. We stand with the WGA and SAG-AFTRA.
We watch a lot of TV and movies! And we read a lot of books too, not to mention the time we spend on TikTok. In case all the reviews, interviews, news, and features didn’t give you a clue (wink, wink), we come together to highlight all those great moments that our favorite shows, movies, and books give us throughout the week. On these Fangirlish Feels of the Week, there are five categories and many thoughts! Ready?
Here we go!
Moment that made you collapse into a puddle of FEELS

Raquel: Outlander mid-season finale. The full episode is PERFECT.
Shana: Can an entire gymnastics meet count as a “moment”? I remember being up at an ungodly hour to watch the Tokyo Olympics live and feeling just…a sense of unreality, horrified—insert lots of other negative emotions that won’t quite describe it here—seeing what Simone Biles went through there.
Being a fan of gymnastics for many years, seeing her elite debut and every huge milestone after there are just…not words to describe what that felt like. And to be clear, that emotion was all for her and trying to grapple with what it must feel like for her—not because I gave a shit about a gold medal record or a before-then-impossible vault.
So, from her very first mount on Saturday night at Classics (no, I’m not using the water product branding name here, USAG. So there), through every single skill, right through to that big smile and little victory dance at the end of the night…I was a mess of feels. And I doubt I’d be overstepping to say a lot of gymnastics fans were as well.
Thank you, Simone, for showing it’s ok to prioritize your mental and physical health and for everything you’ve done to move this sport forward in a purely athletic sense as well.
Ashley T.: Watching Dr. M’Benga and Lt. Ortegas working together to cope with the potential loss of Nurse Chapel warmed my heart in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 2×10 “Hegemony.”
I have friends like that I would go to the mat for, so I can truly empathize with how they are feeling. Just a few lines of dialogue do so much with so little. More scenes like this, especially with Melissa Navia, please and thank you.
Rachel: When the crowds surround Buckingham Palace to support Henry and Alex in Red, White and Royal Blue and then Alex’s mom also wins re-election…THAT’S HOW YOU END A ROMANCE.
Lizzie: I’d say that moment Rachel said, but my favorite moment in the movie was the one on the stairs, as Alex reaches Henry and they hug. WHAT IS THAT? IT’S A CINEMATIC MASTERPIECE, THAT’S WHAT IT IS.
Lyra: ALL OF RED, WHITE, AND ROYAL BLUE. GAYYYYYY! JSKSKXKSKD. Signed, Fellow Gay.
WTF Moment of the Week

Raquel: That we have to wait until next year to see the second part of Outlander season 7.
Ashley T.: “To Be Continued…” at the end of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds 2×10 “Hegemony.” With the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strike still going on, those ellipses became a question mark to me. And that makes me MAD. Pay your creative folks what they’re worth, studios. End this madness.
Lizzie: Netflix released a trailer for a movie called El Conde, which is basically Pinochet, Chile’s brutal dictator of almost 20 years, as a vampire.
Pinochet satire, for real? Like, let’s just handwave the thousands of people his regime killed and brutally tortured, the people who dissapeared, the persecutions, and make Pinochet into a funny vampire grandpa who is only made he’s remembered as a thief? WTF?
Lyra: Does me laughing at the thought of Stephen Amell at a SAG strike after what he said about the strike count is what the fuck moment? I think it does. And the look on his face is everything.
Tik Tok That Made Me LOL

Shana: Mama Tot explains Crocs after the Alabama FAFO event.
Lyra: Boomer clapbacks isn’t something I needed in my soul but the following changed my mind.
What We’re Reading This Week

Raquel: I’m reading American Royals IV: Reign by Katharine McGee, which will be released on August 29, and although I can’t give details, I’m LOVING it! It had been a while since I could enjoy the pleasure of reading and it caught me from the first page.
Ashley T.: With Star Trek: Strange New Worlds season 2 wrapping this week, I’ve got a backlog of comics to get into. IDW has so many Star Trek books out right now, there’s truly something for everyone, no matter your preferred Trek. Hit up your friendly local comic book shop to pick up these books! You can find a shop near you on ComicShopLocator.com.
Rachel: I’m still reading Beach Read by Emily Henry. I’ve decided to take my time and savor it because there’s a rhythm to the writing that I really dig. I really hope the movie version of this one happens.
Lizzie: Did I start Red, White and Royal Blue after that movie, because I just needed more of Alex and Henry? You bet I did.
What We Rewatched This Week

Raquel: I rewatched Outlander mid-season finale as well as three times this week. The first to take notes and write my review, the other two for the pleasure of doing it. And yes, each and every time I ended up crying.
Shana: I have finally submitted to the inevitable Suits rewatch. If gymnastics hadn’t already destroyed me in the feels department this week, just seeing Harvey’s first-ever “closing” with Jessica being secretly impressed, the first Darvey interaction, and little baby trainwreck Mike again would have.
I love one perpetually dysfunctional law firm (even if I never got my stupid can opener).
Rachel: I wanted more of the William/Eliza ship in Miss Scarlet and the Duke, so I watched the season 3 finale. That fake proposal story? OTP PERFECTION.
Ashley T: I took some time to dig into Shudder’s archives this week. I found a bunch of 80s/early 90s horror flicks I’d not seen, but I stumbled across a film from 1991 called Popcorn.
I started watching and realized I had seen it before. It’s got an interesting premise about a small college theater program trying to raise money for their department via a retro horror movie marathon at an old theater. It’s very much in the vein of meta-horror and brings in horror icon, Dee Wallace! Make a bowl of popcorn and enjoy!
