Dakota Johnson is preparing to debut as a superhero, and we are ready for it. Marvel has released the official trailer for Madame Web, and we must admit it intrigued us. This writer is a Marvel fan, but my knowledge of everything in the Marvel universe is less extensive than some. I knew very little about Madame Web until this film and the casting of Johnson was announced last year. I do know that I can’t wait to see it.
Currently, there is no synopsis for Madame Web, but of course, I was going to do my research to learn at least a brief background on the character that Johnson is portraying. Gizmodo.com gave a nice quick breakdown that provided me with the answers. Johnson will play Cassandra or Cassie Web, first introduced in the Marvel comics in 1980. The significant difference in the film version of Cassandra is that she is much younger than the one from the comic. Not only that, but the comic version of Cassandra was also born blind and gifted with psychic powers, including telepathy and clairvoyance. In contrast, Johnson Web developed her powers after an accident. At least, that’s what I got from the trailer.

Joining Johnson in this Spider-man spinoff is Sydney Sweeney, who is set to play Julia Carpenter/Spider-Woman; Celeste O’Connor, who will play Mattie Franklin/Spider-Woman; Isabela Merced, who will play Anya Corazon/Spider-Girl, and Tahar Rahim will play Ezekiel Sims who according to Gizmodo is a serial-killer type of Spider-Man. Also starring in Madame Web are Emma Roberts, Adam Scott, Mike Epps, and Zosia Mamet.

While we do not know exactly what each character will be doing in Madame Web, we’re sure each one of them will keep us entertained. The trailer looks impressive and kept our attention the entire time. We have high hopes for this film and look forward to seeing what Johnson brings to the Marvel Universe. Even if you’re not a Marvel fan like we are, we still think this is a film to check out because we never get tired of seeing movies with women kicking ass.
