The world scares me. I wiill admit that the world actually terrifies me. Why is that? Well that is because of shows like FBI: International, but yet, I am also intrigued. I am intrigued by the things that I know and the things that I don’t know. And last nights FBI: International really had me thinking a lot and terrified by the world.
Look, I think that we all know that there are so many things that happen in the government that we will never know about.
But this episode is a reminder of that. It’s also a reminder that people are missing out there, they deserve to be found, and that there are people who will never give up on them.
CHANGES
One thing that I am not good with is change. I know that. It doesn’t matter if it’s on television or in real life. I have to be able to see a reason for that change and so there are times that I will talk sh** about it until I see it.
And where we are right now – I don’t like all the upgrades to HQ yet. I also didn’t like the fact that we did a time leap, but I also get it.
One of the things that I have loved about FBI: International, is that it always felt like they didn’t stand out in the country that they are in and did incredible things. Now, I feel like that’s changed a bit and for me, I am torn.
What I did like about the fact that a few months passed was that it seems like the new team is working so closely together and that’s a good thing. They all need to be trusting of each other in order to move forward. That being said, while I will always miss Kellet, I am reserving judgement on the new team member.
We don’t know her well enough yet.
ON THE RADAR
Ex-FBI agent Bill Cormack (guest star Jeffrey Pierce) disappeared years ago in Libya and has shown up on the radar again. He’s been arrested and is in the worlds most dangerous prison. While some want to go through diplomatic channels to get him back, that’s not something the fly team wants to do.
You see, diplomatic charges mean that the world will know who he is. But, the fly team has a plan.
Before we dive into the “plan” we all have to discuss how important Smitty is to this team. She gives no f**ks and is always willing to go balls to the wall. It’s no surprise when Forrester and Powell go undercover in the prison, she’s going to be the one there to get them out.
I would not face the Libyan army – hell no. I mean that’s scary. I mean there is also Forrester and Powell heading into the prison, fearless AF. They instantly find Cormack and when he’s being harassed, they put themselves in harms way in order to protect him.
I would guess to be an FBI agent you need to be fearless, so it really isn’t shocking that these two are.
But, as much as I love my fly team, I have to say that Jeffrey Pierce gave such a great performance in this episode that I couldn’t stop being transfixed by the character of Cormack. Like his performance actually made me cry. Like full on ugly tears crying.
The team has a plan to get Cormack out, but you know what they say about plans (me either, but I know they say something). Having to trust in others isn’t easy and they definitely were put to the test having to trust a military man whom is only after the bottom line.
Money.
But then again, isn’t everyone after money. Some, like the Warden are after notoriety and don’t like that there are a lot of Americans in the prison. He’s suspicious.
GREEDS A BITCH
Another thing that I loved about this episode was the differences between Powell and Forrester. Also how Vo stepped up to the plate and ran everything like the boss that she is.
But in the prison, though as a viewer I have always known that Forrester and Powell are completely different, we got to see it highlighted. Forrester is in charge because he’s level headed and looks at the bigger picture. He’s discrete. Powell is a hot head with no patience for people.
But they even each other out and they work well together. It’s their ability to even each other out and the different ways that they see the world. However, when Powell gets thrown in solitary, we see that they are able to pivot and see that they need more that each other.
Smitty is going to blow up a tunnel to take down a wall so that they can break out. Scott utilizes his knowledge of the prison bully to get Powell out and to escape. I have to love that Smitty throws a bomb into a tunnel like it’s nothing.
But when they about make it out and Smitty gets taken prisoner, I wasn’t even nervous. I wasn’t nervous cause I knew that Forrester and Powell would get her out of the situation. I knew that this team would die for each other.
Scott took that man out as if it was childs play. The way that this team really just does what is needed, no matter the consequences, I love. They are there for the greater good. Not saying that they won’t mess up. They will.
But they will do anything to protect each other. And Scott and Smitty have a special relationship. They will always be connected.
NEVER GIVE UP
The entire episode, every time the character of Cormack came on the screen, I felt my heart breaking. I would have tears rise in my eyes. Seeing him in the back of the car and seeing his relief when Scott’s able to tell him that they were able to find the other prisoners, I cried.
Like full on ugly tears.
Scott and Vo have been in constant communication and she’s had Cormack’s daughter in the head quarters. That’s a whole other story that leads to my annoyance with Jubel and wondering why we constantly have to see him. He’s not making things better for anyone when he tells Vo to talk to Cormack’s daughter.
Vo is a great agent, but she is driven by emotion. That isn’t a bad thing, necessarily. Her emotions are what enable her to see things in a different way and connect with the humans around her. Her letting Beatrice (Cormack’s daughter) stay and wait for her Dad is a testament to who she is.
She knows that part of solving crimes is the human element.
She also knows that taking care of her team is part of the experience.
I loved seeing her tell Raines that he could be honest with her. She knows her friend is hurting and it’s killing him to not be back in play. I am wondering why it is that Raines is helping on this case, however, not mad at it.
When the team returns, you see this part of Vo that hadn’t been there. You see the way that she’s risen to the occasion. Scott is proud of her. Everyone is in awe of her. I wanted to high five her.
But I was so looking forward to seeing Cormack reunite with his daughter. That man has been through a lot. But the comfort that he feels when he sees his daughter and her comfort. I lost it. It was a beautiful moment.
OTHER THOUGHTS
- The way that they were able to mix emotion and a case here – I admired
- Scott and Damian fighting – that was hot
- I am not sure how I feel about the update HQ, but I guess we’ll get there.
- Who are all these new characters
- Have you ever watched a show like this and been like, damn I wish I could do that with a computer? No? Just me?
- Scott getting the prison bully out and relocated. I can appreciate he’s a man of his word.
