Woman. Warrior. Lover. Sister. BAMF. Survivor.
There aren’t enough words to describe Octavia Blake.
We caught up with Marie Avgeropoulos, who plays one of the fiercest women on The 100, at San Diego Comic Con to talk about losing Lincoln and what changes are in store for Octavia Blake in season 4.
This past season we saw Octavia lose one of the most important people in her life, Lincoln. He was the first person to truly see her potential and push her to become the badass warrior she is today. And with his passing, a part of her that hoped for happiness, love, and a future on Earth, died with him.
“As tragic and horrible as it was, it was almost Shakespearean at the same time. It was a really precious thing they had going.” Avgeropoulos continued by saying, “And he taught her pretty much everything she knows, that the Arkers didn’t and wouldn’t, because no one really believed in her and dismissed her.”
Lincoln believed in her completely.
Now that her love is gone and her bond with her brother destroyed, Octavia is going to go down a really dark path. Killing Pike didn’t alleviate her pain like she hoped. If anything it triggered something inside of her that she never expected.
“She is going to do what she does best next season. And that’s killing people.” She doesn’t enjoy it or find it particularly pleasurable, she just knows that she excels at it above anything else in her life. Avgeropoulos continued to tease Octavia’s ‘killing arc’ by saying, “She’s gonna use that as an outlet to really excel in being the best assassin she can with a certain group you’re all aware of and I can’t tell you who.”
Octavia is going to be an assassin. (Repeat that a couple times to yourself and imagine all the BAMF scenes we’re gonna get next season!)
