Caitlin Snow’s romantic history on The Flash has been anything but comforting. She’s experienced heartbreak and trauma that likens even Barry Allen. Last season on The Flash, Caitlin was dragged through the emotional ringer at the hands of Zoom, who posed as Jay Garrick and she ended up falling in love with him only to have her heart broken.
But through the emotional turmoil, Caitlin may have bent but she’s never broken, which is testament to her strength.
“She has some really great moments,” Danielle Panabaker told us during a roundtable interview at SDCC. “I think it was in episode 22 where she’s looking at Zoom and she says, ‘I don’t know if I’m ever going to be able to love again’ because Zoom took that from her. On that emotional level he’s taken that away from her so hopefully she’s not jumping back into any romances.”
But who says Caitlin needs romance to have a purpose?
“I think she has found her place in STAR Labs and I think she does get a certain passion from that as well,” Panabaker added.
As The Flash heads into its third season, Panabaker hopes that the show can explore Caitlin’s family, specifically her mother that was referenced late last season. And it seems as if the producers have answered Panabaker’s hopes to explore Caitlin’s family with the casting of Susan Walters as Caitlin’s mother, Dr. Carla Tannhauser.
“I feel like they teased a little bit about Caitlin’s mother at the end of season two,” Panabaker said, “and the dynamic when Caitlin Snow and Killer Frost were talking to each other. Obviously we know a lot about the West family, we’ve met Cisco’s family. I’d like to know a little more about Caitlin’s family.”
Watch our interview with Panabaker below where she discusses Caitlin’s kiss of death, Flashpoint, and more.
The Flash season three premieres Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 8/7c on The CW.
