Don’t try to deny it, you’re as happy as we are to see Luke Perry return to our screens.
We caught up with Luke Perry, who plays Archie’s father Fred, to talk about his familiarity with Archie comics, Mrs. Lodge, and cultivating adult storylines on The CW’s Riverdale.
Perry’s been familiar with Archie Comics since he was a young boy. In fact he couldn’t escape them.
“When you would go to buy superhero comics, a lot of the times they would have them packed in 3’s. And they would stick an Archie in the middle. You didn’t know you were getting Archie but you got Archie.”
Even though Perry wasn’t in a lot of the pilot, he acknowledges that this is a show about Archie & his friends. The adults are there to help these teens move forward into adulthood and he’s ok with that.
“Going forward he’s gonna cultivate the adult storylines, as well as the kids, cuz that’s what helps take the younger characters into more sophisticated problems.” Perry is in a position where his character can change many lives and he’s more than ready to step in when needed.
