We have to admit that a Pretty Little Liars reboot still feels way too soon. It feels like yesterday when the original series ended. And hey, let’s be honest, the last season had gone way downhill. Doesn’t mean that we didn’t love it (we did).
We love Sara Shepard books, but spin-off’s of Pretty Little Liars and her other books that were adapted for TV were cancelled. They weren’t bad shows, they just weren’t as good or as innovative as Pretty Little Liars. So there is hesitation to become invested, because we’re afraid of history repeating itself.
But what we are thinking is that with Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin we have an advantage. It is on a streaming service (HBO Max), which means that they can and most likely will push the envelope. And that in itself, can change the chances of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin succeeding.
There has been a lot of talk about reboots lately, and one thing that everyone seems to want to know, is will the original stars appear on the reboot? I don’t ever want people to appear, because I feel like a new show needs to separate itself from the old.
But it doesn’t mean that I don’t think that people shouldn’t learn from the wisdom of the people that came before them.
Original Pretty Little Liars star, Lucy Hale, spoke about giving advice to the stars of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin in an interview with TVLine.
“Oh my God, it’s so depressing that I already have to give advice to a new generation,” she laughed.
“But I think it’s great. It’s an honor that they want to continue the legacy of Pretty Little Liars. Like, how cool is that?” she continued.
She went onto talk about knowing Bailee Madison, one of the stars of the reboot and gave some great advice.
“I have a feeling their lives are about to drastically change, like ours did. When I was doing Pretty Little Liars, I was always thinking about the next year,” Lucy said to the outlet, “I was never in the moment, so I missed a lot of the little moments. We were worrying about things we shouldn’t be worrying about. It’s very vague, but my advice is just to enjoy it. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime experience. People are going to love you guys, and I’m definitely going to be watching. All the love to everyone involved.”
What do you think of Lucy’s advice? Are you excited for the reboot?
