Guy Ritchie (Aladdin) is teaming up with Disney and AGBO on a live-action Hercules. And honestly, please cast someone other than KJ Apa. At first glance, he might seem like the obvious choice. He’s not a natural redhead but it hasn’t stopped Hollywood from seeing that color as his signature. But that doesn’t mean that he’s the only option. In fact, there are plenty of options to play Hercules and his counterpart Meg; because you best believe that we’re thinking about her.
Right off the bat, we support Tom Holland and Zendaya taking on the respective roles. This is purely based on the fact that we want to see these two in more films together and their real love will lead to the sizzling chemistry between Hercules and Meg. Then there’s Taron Egerton (Rocketman) and Genevieve Angelson (New Amsterdam). Egerton has the musical talent to take on Hercules and honestly, despite not liking her character on New Amsterdam, we really her performance.
Then there are some actors who we’d love to see play Hercules and hopefully find their Meg. There’s Michael B. Jordan because we’d love to see him just take on more roles and become a Disney prince. Then there’s Zane Phillips, Charlie Hunnam, or Paul Mescal. Matching Hercules’s energy could be Ana de Armas, Laura Harrier, Eiza Gonzalez, and Liz Gillies. And we’d love to see some of the muses played by Lizzo, Janelle Monáe, and the just as glorious H.E.R.
Hercules the live-action film is reportedly based on the Disney animated film of the same name. And according to Deadline, the studio AGBO in the process of hiring writers after Dave Callaham wrote the first draft. Guy Ritchie is best known for classics like Snatch and Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. He also worked on The Man from U.N.C.L.E. and Operation Fortune: Ruse de guerre.
