2020 is finally coming to a close. As we welcome in the New Year, we wanted to share 10 shows we’re looking forward to in 2021. This is not by any means an exhaustive list of all the amazing TV shows we are excited about. In fact, it just barely scratches the surface.
We are lucky to come together through our love of stories on the small screen and there are a ton returning or premiering next year. Here are 10 shows the Fangirlish team is looking forward to in 2021.

All American
One of the shows we are most looking forward to, because it left us with some pretty big cliffhangers, is All American. Season 2 of All American ended with Spencer and Coach Baker both leaving Beverly High to return to South Crenshaw. We have no clue where this will leave the team when season 3 kicks off. Will it cause a rift between Billy and Jordan since he’s essentially coaching what could be a rival team especially with Spencer on it? Will Beverly go up against South Crenshaw at some point at all?
Then there’s the issue of Spencer’s shoulder injury from being shot. He’s been pushing himself way too hard and going against his doctor’s advice, not to mention he lied to Coach Baker about being fine. We knew he wasn’t fine and after he fell pretty hard catching the ball on the field, it was no surprise the episode ended with him losing feeling in his right arm. It was a very tense moment to watch and we were freaking out, we’re STILL freaking out.
Olivia’s sobriety will also have to be tackled because she’s struggling. The PTSD she’s experienced since Spencer was shot is consuming her and she wants to find a way to make it stop. She reaches for a bottle of alcohol and as we were all screaming for her not to drink, she took a sip. It was heartbreaking to see because she’s been doing her best to stick to it. It’s clear she still needs a lot of help and we hope her parents catch it and help her before it’s too late.
All American season 3 premieres on Monday, January 18 at 8/7c on The CW.

Batwoman
Batwoman is a must on this list for so many reasons, but mostly Javicia Leslie. Obviously we can’t wait to see Luke, Sophie, Mary, and even Alice again. The first season of Batwoman created such a rich history of Gotham. It proved itself to be a fresh and exciting addition to the DCTV line-up. There’s so many places the show can go from the season 1 finale and the introduction of Leslie’s Ryan Wilder in season 2. We know we’ll be cheering Ryan on as she saves Gotham in 2021.
Batwoman returns on Sunday, January 17st at 8/7c on The CW.

Cobra Kai
While we fell in love with Cobra Kai when it was still a YouTube show, the series found a larger audience when it premiered on Netflix in 2020. The third season premieres in January, and the trailer has us on the edge of our seats. It looks like Robby is in jail for his actions from last season and Miguel has some serious injuries. And what will come of the love square between Robby, Samantha, Miguel and Torry?
Some old faces from Karate Kid II will appear as the crew heads to Mr. Miyagi’s hometown in Okinawa. And the trailer teased something we’ve been longing for since the show began – Johnny and Daniel finally working together. Our bromance OTP will rise! We can’t wait to see the two of them face off with Kreese this year.
Cobra Kai season 3 premieres Jan. 1, 2021 on Netflix.

A Discovery of Witches
We’ve been waiting for the follow-up season to the sensational A Discovery of Witches for over a year, and the wait will finally end in early December, as we get to follow Matthew and Diana into the past, see Diana coming into her own as, you know, the most powerful witch of her generation, deepen the world around them and, oh yeah, get to witness every second on screen of what has to be one of the best ships on TV today, Bishmont.
There’s so much that makes A Discovery of Witches special, from the lore, to the attention to detail, the found family aspects, but above all, this unapologetically the story about a man and a woman whose love is destined to not only change each other, but the world. And we’ll take our supernatural romance and enjoy every second of it!
A Discovery of Witches season 2 premieres on Saturday, Jan. 9, on Sundance Now and Shudder.

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier
What’s there to say about The Falcon and the Winter Soldier that hasn’t already been said? It’s a freaking dream that we get to see Bucky and Sam team up in this way. They finally get their own space to grow with each other and separately. We finally get to know them more beyond their attachments to larger MCU storylines. TFATWS is Sam and Bucky’s time to shine, and we are here for it.
The Falcon and the Winter Solider premieres on Disney+ on March 19, 2021.

Legacies
Even though season 2 ended in March of this year, it feels like years since we last saw Legacies. It’s hard to shake the giant cliffhangers from last season despite the time that’s passed between seasons. That’s a testament to the show’s fresh approach to the TVD Universe and the way its characters deeply connect with its audience. That’s why we are more than impatient to return to the Salvatore School. We need the Super Squad to guide us through the new year, and luckily we don’t have to wait much longer.
Legacies season 3 premieres Thursday, January 21st on the CW.

Walker
How are we meant to not be excited about a new Jared Padalecki show? We just lost Sam Winchester and Supernatural, so, of course we’re going to cling to Walker like our lives depend on it. Walker, a reboot of the Walker, Texas Ranger, looks amazing and really moving. It’s going to be a lot of fun to watch Padalecki take on something new.
Walker will likely attract all the Supernatural fans but also The 100 fans because Lindsey Morgan is set to be Walker’s partner Micki Ramirez. Plus, Keegan Allen, aka Toby on Pretty Little Liars, is playing Walker’s brother Liam. What’s not to love?
Walker premieres Thursday, January 21st at 8/7c on The CW.

WandaVision
It’s no secret that WandaVision is one of the most anticipated shows of next year. It’s all anyone can talk about, because it’s promised to do so many things. Not only is it delving into the lives of Wanda Maximoff and Vision, WandaVision is set to introduce a new era of TV along with a new phase of the MCU. That’s huge! The trailers have racked up millions upon millions of views, and fans are devouring every detail they can about this show. Needless to say, we cannot wait for WandaVision to take over our lives.
WandaVision premieres on Disney+ on January 15, 2021!

The Witcher
The Witcher really took us by surprise with how much we loved the first season. We knew we would like it, but we became a bit obsessed. You have a fire ship with Geralt and Yennefer. Also, Yennefer is a badass and we would die for her in a heartbeat. Next, there is comedy gold in Jaskier and his hilarious banter with Geralt. Finally, you have a little sister figure in Ciri.
It’s a fabulous multidimensional world with a fantastic storyline. What content has leaked for the upcoming second season has us on the edge of our seats. While we wait, we will continue to watch Yennefer kick ass, count Geralt’s “fucks” and “hmms” and sing a bard for our Witcher.
The Witcher is season 2 is expected to be released sometime in 2021.

Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist
With an unusual premise (an ordinary woman suddenly gets the power to hear people’s thoughts through song) Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist should have been a cheesy mess. Instead, it quickly established itself as one of the best new shows of 2020. At times funny and heartfelt, with one of the most realistic depictions of grief on television – and some amazing musical numbers – it’s one show we can’t wait to see back on our screens. Luckily, we’ll soon get our wish.
Season 2 of Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist premieres January 5 on NBC.
