Designated Survivor premiered in explosive fashion last year (quite literally), and it quickly grew to become one of our favorite shows with its combination of mystery, politics, family and conspiracy, all centered around a man we would probably all vote for if he could really be President of the United States.
So, to state the obvious, we want more. More of what we enjoyed from Season 1, of course, but also more of other things. As Season 2 approaches, let’s discuss what we want to see from the next season of Designated Survivor:
More Aaron/Seth/Emily

MY OT3! Some of the best scenes of Season 1 involved these three characters just talking, trying to figure out stuff together, hanging out, etc. In between all the high-stakes drama and the mystery, it’s nice to see dynamics we can relate to, even on a show like this, and we want more of it. Thank God Aaron is back in the White House for Season 2!
More of the Kirkman Family Dynamics

There was a nice balance there, at the beginning of Season 1, and then, of course, the conspiracy took center stage, but we really did enjoy seeing the Kirkman family adjusting to life in the White House, and we want more of it. What issues is Alex Kirkman going to defend? Is the issue of Leo’s sexuality going to come up? Has Penny made any actual friends? We want to know all the things!
For President Kirkman to Make a Few Mistakes

Look, I love Kirkman and I love Kiefer and I rooted for him every second of Season 1, but for a long stretch there he was just …too perfect. Everything worked out. And that’s nice, it is, but it’s also …fake. Real life never goes your way all the time. And, right now, what we need is not a fantasy, but a role model that feels – well, real.
Hannah Wells Kicking Ass and Taking Names

Maggie Q could kick my ass and I’d smile at her and ask her to do it again, that’s how cool she is. And we kinda hope that now that the conspiracy thing is more or less solved, she doesn’t just go sit in a desk only to pop up every few episodes for a scene or two. And, if that means more problems for the Kirkman White House, so be it. We’ll pay a heavy price for Maggie Q.
A Ship We Can Root For

I don’t even have any preferences as to which ship, I just one want one ship that makes me feel something. Are we gonna focus more on Tom/Alex? Is Aaron/Emily going to be a thing? Is Hannah/Chuck gonna be a thing? Can Leo get a boyfriend? I’m open to any and all possibilities, I just want this show to make me feel more than anxiety.
What do you think? What are you looking forward to in Season 2 of Designated Survivor?
Designated Survivor Season 2 premieres September 27th at 10/9c on ABC.
