It started like any other love story: Boy meets girl. Girl doesn’t know boy exists. Boy swoons from afar. It seemed hopeless for our heroes at the beginning but this love story took time to build and man, was it worth every. single. second!
Not every ship starts off with a “meet cute” of the century. But aren’t some of the best ships the one’s that don’t? “Lydia, get off your cute little ass and dance with me now.” This moment proved that Stiles wasn’t like other people. He wasn’t afraid to call Lydia on her crap. We dig it. While this was a dark moment, it was a huge turning point for Lydia, though she’d never really know. Stiles ran to his possible death for her and it wouldn’t be the last time. This gif makes us smile and audibly squeal “awww”. Look at her face! Look at the utter pride she has for him. GOALS! By far, one of the most emotional episodes of the series ended in a bang and with it, another Stydia save. It’s funny how the smallest moments can say so much. If you weren’t aboard the Stydia ship by now, this moment had you buying a first class ticket! All a panic stricken Stiles needed was a kiss from his favorite strawberry blonde. And Lydia can say it was for medical reasons all she wants, we’re not buying it. Just going to leave this right here “…someone who can pull you back. Someone that has a strong connection to you, a kind of an emotional tether.” Can we talk about the fact that it takes Stiles a good minute before he realizes he’s even dreaming when he wakes up with Lydia in his bed?! How many times did he have this same dream? How many times did he reach over for her hand in his sleep? It’s fine. We’re fine. *sobs* Never did we think being saved from a bear trap would be a moment we would fangirl over, yet here we are. The red string. *sigh* Lydia is strong, unbelievably so, but very rarely did she allow herself to be vulnerable…except with Stiles. This moment was when it truly started to show; a crack in her hard exterior. One of our favorite things about this moment is the fact that Lydia couldn’t keep her damn hands off Stiles. Well, that and the sensational acting of Dylan O’Brien. But mainly the clinging. Even in season 4 when Stiles was with Malia, he was still there for Lydia; still served as her anchor and her comfort. Kidnapped, chained and on the brink of their own deaths, yet all they cared about were each other. They fight for each other. They save each other. That’s what Stydia does and we love it! Does this gif really need any words? No matter where Stiles is in his life, Lydia will always be one of his number one concerns. Period. We really only added this one because they could have easily stood NEXT to each but no, they had to be extra and cling to each other. I mean, we’re obviously cool with it. As you were, Stydia. The amount of times I’ve rewatched this episode is insane. My heart races every single time Stiles rushes into that room and saves Lydia. Not a care for himself, only her. Always her. The strangled sob he lets out when she opens her eyes makes me so motherf-ing emotional! He thought he had lost her forever and it was so painful to watch. The moment he realized she was still alive, still his…no words. Put this on my grave! I cannot!! This man knew he was being erased from existence, possibly forever, and the last thing he did was tell the love of his life that he loved her. Stop it! I’m sobbing! Yeah you do, girl. You love him so much and we do too! Remember him! Remember… You’d think by the 100th time we heard that line, we’d be okay but we’re not. We’re still ridiculously emotional over it. Their tether knows no limits. Lydia defied all odds and remembered Stiles. She remembered their life together and their love; their connection. This love literally knows no bounds. It’s deep and unwavering and this beautiful moment proved it. “I didn’t say it back…You don’t have to.” *FANGIRLING* This moment! THIS! It made every heartbreak, every tear, every loss worth it! They found their way back to each other and it was perfection! And as if the reunion kiss wasn’t enough, Stydia gifted us with one of the most emotionally charged hugs ever witnessed. *Still Fangirling* “Everything’s changed.” If only 1×01 Stydia could see this now… Such a small moment but it spoke volumes. While Lydia would give anything to have Stiles with her, the thought of losing him again was something she couldn’t imagine. She loves him enough to know that in order to keep him, she has to keep him away. Yes, something as simple as them holding hands is absolutely exhilarating especially when you think of what was happening in that moment. Lydia looked at her man and knew the only way to help their Alpha was to have his respective love distract him with a kiss…just like she did with Stiles all those years ago on the floor of school locker room. The definition of full circle!
Stiles and Lydia will always be one of those “one in a million” ships. The smallest moments were the ones that spoke the most. While we obviously would have loved more kisses and couple-ly moments, we wouldn’t trade one moment of Stydia’s story for anything. Their story is what makes them so timeless. They fought their way to each other and they came through the storm together. And it’s like they say, “A true love story never ends.”
