This horrible year is ending. It’s a year to forget, but one of the best things about it ending is…the best of year lists! Yes, we know that it is difficult to get something good out of a year like this but at Fangirlish we have you covered and it’s time to review our favorite tv shows of 2020.
Here we go!
Lucifer

This show had to be on our list. I mean, you know we love it and we can’t wait to see the second part of season 5. It’s a series that always surprises us with its magic, its symbolism, and its really unexpected and clever twists. But most of all, it is a human show about a tormented man who must forgive himself.
Who would have imagined that the devil is much more human and better than what we had been told? And Deckerstar is perfect and wonderful and they deserve all the happiness in the world! Fingers crossed to see a happy ending for them soon.
Bridgerton

We know that this show has not yet premiered but, as you know, we had the pleasure of watching it and we assure you that you are going to love it. It is a human series, it is romance, yes, but it is much more than that because they tell real stories about hypocrisy, about the way society handles men and women and the brightness of that time period, that used to hide the saddest stories.
You can identify with each character and understand them, even if there are times you want to kill them. Your heart is going to ache for them no matter what. And keep in mind that women, in reality, have all the power, even if society does not recognize it.
Outlander

We are not going to deny that we ended up very angry with Outlander at the end of season 5. But, despite our anger, we cannot forget that it is a show that we like for its passion, for its love and for its unique way of telling a story. It makes us live history in such a way that it makes us feel that we are part of it, that we are with the Fraser family living all the consequences and adventures that come with the 18th century.
I mean, we wanted to fight for Scotland and their freedom, we wanted them to get it, when we’re not even Scots. Only Outlander does that.
12 Monkeys

Yes, we know that this show is not from this year and it’s no longer on air, but we had to put it on this list, since most of us discovered it only this year. It’s such a good show, but so good … there was no list without it. It is a series that will surprise you because it has several twists that you do not see coming at any time and that will leave you with your mouth open in shock. But, when you think about it, you clearly see that all the clues were hidden there and that the writers have been smarter than you, and we love that!
There are few shows that really surprise you and leave you thinking “whoa, I never thought this was it! But it makes perfect sense!” and 12 Monkeys is one of them. Also, those little clues that they leave you during the story … it means that the writers had the whole story well thought out before they wrote it. If you give it a chance, you will not regret it, we assure you.
Tiny Pretty Things

Again, you haven’t been able to enjoy this show yet but trust us, it’s one of the best shows this year. It has absolutely EVERYTHING. The world of ballet is wild and not at all brilliant. That world full of glitter and shine is a jungle in which the strongest prevail and everyone struggles for the opportunity to fly … the problem is that the higher you fly … the faster you fall. And there is no shortage of secrets to spice up this story. Many dark secrets. Will you sign up?
Chicago Fire

I have to be honest, this show has never been one of my favorites … until now. A friend and partner in Fangirlish recommended that I watch this last season because there was a couple that I was going to like a lot (she knows me and knows that OTPs are my weakness) and she was absolutely right. I fell in love with the couple and for that this show deserved to be on this list. I’ll keep track of it from now on.
The Good Doctor

This show had my heart since it started but this year it has much more. #Shea are together and that has added another touch to the show, because we began to explore what it is like to see Shaun truly in love, in a relationship with a long-term future, while we continue to explore the medical and human challenges that are presented to him, this year with young doctors and trainees under his charge.
It’s not easy for Shaun to handle it but neither is it for the people around him, although everyone on this show has changed over the years. Shaun has managed to connect and understand human emotions much more and the people around him have managed to understand how his mind works, and that Shaun is not as different as they thought.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

Another show pending release but we are sure that, from what we saw in the trailer, it’s going to be incredible! There are many good things that await us in this last part of the show. Let’s face it, we still can’t get over Nick saying “we’re endgame” – and we think they are. And not only that, there is a hidden threat that Sabrina and all her friends are going to have to face … together. And we are here for this!
Chicago Med

The medical drama still makes us fall in love after so many years. And we want so much more from this show. Its cases are original and emotional, and they always manage to move us. It is impossible not to identify with our favorite characters and the emotional challenges they must face, because we have all felt what they feel. We can’t wait for this show to keep conquering us season after season.
Chicago PD

Another Chicago show we love! This show had a huge challenge ahead of it, such as addressing police reform and we believe that it has managed to do so very well. In addition, we have two couples who are waiting to formalize their relationship. We are talking about Burzek and Upstead. Fingers crossed so that this year is THE year because the truth is that the four of them deserve all the happiness in the world and are madly in love with each other.
And this is our list of the our favorite tv shows of 2020. Stay tuned for a new list tomorrow.
