One less day for Chicago Party Aunt! After our interview with its showrunner, it’s time to sit down and chat with Lauren Ash and Rory O’Malley about season 1 of this incredible show, the LGBTQ representation in animated shows and what their experiences were like voicing Diane and Daniel. Ready?
Here we go!
As you can see, for an actor, voiceover it is a completely different world from live action and we are curious to understand how Lauren and Rory had lived it and what they liked the most about the experience.
In addition, we ask the Tony nominee Rory O’Malley, who gives voice to Daniel, a young gay man, his opinion on the importance of diversity and LGBTQ representation in animation shows, not only in those aimed at a more adult audience, if not also to a younger audience.
And … goddess, if we already loved him before, after his response, we love him even more. You just… you have to see what he told us because every word, absolutely every word, is on point.
Of course, we wanted to know if Lauren Ash and Rory O’Malley would sign for more seasons of Chicago Party Aunt and and what they were most proud of about their characters. In fact, they have some very funny similarities to Diane and Daniel.
And yeah, we tell Lauren Ash how much we love Dina at Superstore because we weren’t going to miss the opportunity to thank her for all these years of laughter and emotion by her side.
Lauren Ash and Rory O’Malley are absolutely AMAZING. They are funny, patient, caring, talkative, charming, sweet and so so lovely and you can really tell how excited they are for this new adventure and the way they love Diane and Daniel, the way they talk about them is really inspiring.
You can tell that they admire their characters and that they are grateful and proud to have the opportunity to be their voices.
Talking to them was a real pleasure and I couldn’t stop smiling listening to them because every word they said was worth it. This was one of those reflective interviews and you are grateful to have had the opportunity to do it.
